Leftist Fundraiser GoFundMe Under Investigation

GoFundMe encouraged donors to submit a refund form, and said that any funds not properly returned to donors would be donated to a charity chosen by the Freedom Convoy.

Within hours, however, GoFundMe walked back the refund applications, instead announcing it would be refunding donors automatically.

Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis said that he would "investigate" the company, accusing them of fraud.

Slave on slave violence... we get bent out of shape and angry when the little guy steals (as we should do), but when it comes to these big banks and financial institutions that rob from us everyday, we turn a blind eye.

How do banks rob people?

On a slightly related topic, this is my favorite charity that I give to on a regular basis (probably only now that I think of it). 100% of proceeds go to helping handicap people purchase wheelchair vans. And this will be their last fundraiser through Go Fund Me.

Itโ€™s a gap in the market that no government program currently aids in, and a gap myself and numerous others are proud to help fill.

Even if you donโ€™t have money to give, following the page, liking posts, and sharing posts all help get the message out.

The left on here claim they wouldnโ€™t mind giving a bit more.

The right on here claim charity is the role of the individual not the government.

Both have an opportunity here to put their money where their mouth is.

The Facebook cause I posed earlier announced that after ending the current fund raiser they will be doing all future fund raisers with GiveSendGo.

I know itโ€™s just one random group, but theyโ€™re doing around 100k in Charity donations a month.

Iโ€™m just curious - had you honestly ever heard of GiveSendGo prior to the GoFundMe action?

Nope. Not until someone shared a tweet today and then I saw the Facebook post I just referenced. Same for you?

Sounds like itโ€™s a good day to be one of their shareholders/owners

How do banks rob people?
1. The Federal Reserve and their inflationary money printing
2. Low interest rates that punish savers
3. Looking to create the platforms for a universal social credit system (similar to the COVID passports)
4. Starting wars and financing both sides of the conflict

1. Agree
2. Do you mean interest on savings or loans?
3. Idk enough to have an opinion on that
4. I obviously disapprove of any influence on their end in starting to any altercation, but if I owned a bank (have considered pay day lending) I would happily fund both sides (depending on how horrific the other side was)

I had never heard of them until I read the article on GoFundMe seizing the funds.

So if this math is correct - GoFundMe pocketed over $300,000 in fees off the truckers fundraiser. Swell group of guys and gals.

Yes. GoFundMe is a for-profit company. On fundraisers for individuals or businesses it charges a 2.9% payment-processing fee on each donation, along with 30 cents for every donation. That means if a campaign raised $1,000 through 10 donations of $100 each, GoFundMe would collect about $32.
The company asks donors to leave a voluntary tip after making a donation.

How GoFundMe works, how it pays people and how it makes its money

From what I understand they are private businesses and can do what they want. Right?

I clearly said "punish savers".

But just thinking about it, low interest rates on borrowing is bad also because it encourages more consumption/spending.
