Is it me or does it seem like our play calling keeps putting Medley on the left hash mark to attempt a field goal. I mention it because I think it is easier for a kicker to have to pull it rather than slice it.

You do realize ... that's just the camera angle. He's hitting it the same way every time.

I think right-footed kickers do generally prefer to be on the left hash mark, unless they're inside the 10, then they want to be centered as much as possible.

So you're probably not imagining it entirely.

On the other hand, GAVol's right about the slice/hook part of your question. He doesn't have to slice (or hook) depending on where on the field he is. He goes with whatever his kicking style tends toward, and just shifts his aim line to match that.

So what made you wake up a week after the season ended when 1 - FGs were not needed the week before and 2 - he went 4/ the week before that?

Assuming this is true, then the kicker would actually prefer kicking from the left hash mark as it would increase his odds. Here's a rude sketch to hopefully provide a visual.

OP is right about everything but doesn't realized they answered their own question.

Line up on the left hash. Aim for the right goal post. Hook to the middle.

:) I had been meaning to bring this up for awhile, and I did mean to add while he made them, I would think it would be easier to kick from right hash mark or obviously middle of the field is ideal especially the longer the distance.

Medley has been hitting everything lately so I believe the kicking woes are behind him.

It's definitely easier and preferred to kick from the left hash mark than the right hash mark. When kicking your leg motion is left to right. Sometimes it's preferred the left hash over the center of the field.

It is. Slicing a kick really involves the wind and you still want to pull it a bit and let the wind do the "slicing" for you. Also which foot you kick with kind of determines where you are more comfortable kicking. A lefty likes to approach from the right, a righty from the left. It helps to compensate for the arc your leg naturally takes.

Yes it is you.
