My biggest problem with Vitale is the random tangents he goes on about one of the blue bloods, during a game in which they’re not playing. UT vs. AU, he’ll go down a rabbit hole to mention UK (or Cal), Duke (or K), UNC (or Roy), KU (or Self) Boeheim or Pitino, with no relevance to the game he’s calling.Dick Vitale, for the time being, still has spatial/situational awareness. I get that a lot of people don't like his style, I personally think he adds a good bit of excitement in spite of his somewhat grating approach, but it's more or less the same as it was 20 years ago.
He's got another three or so years before it's necessary for him to step down, although with his recent triumph over cancer I think he gets a combo comeback/goodbye tour this year and calls it a day after the season.
Met Corso several years ago in DFW airport. Was very cordial, signed a piece of paper I had. He's not the same since the stroke, for sure.
Whoever mentioned Spurrier as a potential replacement, that would be wildly entertaining. But here's a name that I think would be great on TV: Ed Orgeron.
