8 timesDid this guy ever pick Tennessee, like ever? Not sad to see him move on.
He has always been a character. I remember the story about when he was head football coach at the University of Louisville. They were playing Memphis in Louisville. Memphis scored a touchdown to go up by 50 points and Corso ran across the field waving a white flag. The following year Louisville beat Memphis to win the conference championship. At the time, it was the Missouri Valley Conference. He went from Louisville to Indiana. All you young kids don’t realize that Corso IS College Gameday. Yes, he was way past his prime. Yes his health prevented him from being his best version. But Herbie and the others love that man and Corso lived for show. Even in his old age, he didn’t bring the show down, it was great they could keep including him.
When he went to Indiana, he scheduled USC back when they were really good. When asked why he would schedule a team like USC, Corso said when I took this job, I told them I would show you a number 1 team.He has always been a character. Sure you did. I’m not sure why people care who he picked. I was not aware of that any bearing on the outcome of the game. Why are we so fascinated with the opinions and predictions of people? People do much worse things in this life than not picking Tennessee to win games.Did this guy ever pick Tennessee, like ever? Not sad to see him move on.
LOL…maybe, but he could rally (sort of) to lead Take Me Out to the Ballgame in the 7th.Exactly where I'm at.
Also for better or worse, many of these guys had a style and personality that you knew they were calling the game or on color commentary as soon as they spoke. You didn't need to see them introduced. As cringe as it kinda was I miss "You're looking LIVE" from Musburger. Bill Walton was out of his gourd but I miss his color commentary on college basketball games because it was so entertaining. Harry Carey will always be one of the greatest play by play guys to me and by the 5th inning he was a 12 pack in and might not even know what day it was.
