They both have a ways to go...Trey got schooled a couple of times tonight and JG has some serious mechanical problems; however, I think they are both very talented Vols who will take over the locker room eventually. I think they both want to be where they are.

Guarantano not stepping up into the pocket is how Trey' s man beat him. Trey had good leverage, set up the pocket, and it JG had stepped forward instead of standing still the sack would have been avoided.

JG was slow before the ankle injury. Did his ankle cause him to hold on to the ball until he gets sacked? Time and time again ?

If there was only a QB coach to teach him these things

a bad qb can't be a leader. his footwork is terrible. his decision making is terrible and for the love of everything holy he can't throw the ball away instead going into the fetal position.

You're right, but what makes me optimistic is that they are uncoached. Novel idea I know, but maybe the next coach will try to develop his players

Trey is a true freshman, so he is going to make some mistakes. It didn't help him that he had to try to help protect Brooks out at right tackle, so he got caught leaning that way a couple of times.
