Leach System

A 1 dimensional offense wont really work in the SEC. If Leach comes and doesnt tweak his syetm, we will get wrecked again.

Man you're right...having a QB put up over 5,000 yards in the air in a single season will lose you a lot of games.

This may have already been addressed but he is the HC/OC at WS. What is everyone's thoughts about him doing the same at UT?

You act like the man is an idiot. He's been a coach in the SEC before, it's not like he isn't aware of things down here.

He'll tweak it to do what needs to be done.

Football Statistics | Pac-12

Washington State Cougars 2017 Statistics - Team and Player Stats - College Football - ESPN

Sorry but I dont know where you get your stats from. But Leach's RBs have 295 touches for 860 yards, at a 2.9YPC and 71 yards per game.

Tennessee Volunteers 2017 Statistics - Team and Player Stats - College Football - ESPN

It's not like we're doing any better. In fact if you look at the top rusher for each team, WSU top RB vs John Kelly, the two are actually pretty close in stats.

And WSU doesn't run the ball nearly as much as we do.

So there's no real drop off. In fact if you take out the sacks that count as rushing stats.

WSU as a team 4.77 yards a carry
UT as a team 4.69 years a carry, and that's with 10 guys "rushing" the ball compared to 4 from WSU

So already stats alone, WSU is better than UT at running the ball.

Good catch but thats really a 1 game sample. And thats with a Clemson team that had NFL talent on both sides of the ball.

I am not saying Leach wouldnt be successful. I just dont think his offense is gping to blow everyone away like they are expecting. Especially not in the SEC. if he comes, we shall see.

That might be just a one game sample but there aren't a whole lot of samples to draw from of teams that have beat Bama the last few years.

I realize that Leach's system is proven to work, unlike Butch's. I'm mainly asking if they are similar philiosophically at all since maybe the players Butch recruited could fit better into Leach's system or maybe they could learn it easier if there is some conceptual overlap.

PAC 12 stats:

2014- #1 in passing, last in rushing

2015- #1 in passing, last in rushing

2016- #1 in passing, #11 in rushing

2017- #1 in passing, last in rushing

How does that say balanced offensive attack?

I think he lost to some really bad teams with those #s. Makes me think of the 2012 team.

This offense seems to work in NFL. The Patriots are essentially running and they seem to be doing pretty well over the last few years. Crossing routes, screens, etc. creates mismatch’s.

He runs about the same number of play passing as running . His passes go for a lot of yards tho

Not quite...He runs a more "death by 1000 papercuts" passing attack...Not quite dink n' dunk, definitely not bombs away.

Whole buncha WR screens.

Always the same crap with SEC fans.

“_______ system will never work in the SEC”

Urban Meyers offense will never work in the SEC.
That Hugh Freeze offense will never work in the SEC.
Gary Pinkels offense will never work in the SEC.
Gus Mahlzans offense will never work in the SEC.

And on and on and on...

Any system will work anywhere if you have the people to run it and they are better than the people on the opposing defense....

His system has been used in the SEC before. Just like everyone it's been he put up numbers but couldn't win championships. He doesn't run the ball so he is bound to have games like he did against Washington this year. He will win some games too though

If your defense is good enough you don't have to worry about "late in the game". The defense just stops the other team and gives you back the ball, then your offense just scores again, or if not, then the defense just stops them again. For me, it's call a balanced team. They are just better than the other team.
