Hopefully another diamond in the rough.A little discouraged on all the 3* linebackers we've gotten verbals from so far.....

There's no need to be discouraged. Sal is the number one linebackers coach in the country. If he wants Goeas...then we should want him. I don't understand why people think they can judge talent just because of a set of stars. Trust your coaches. Its their a$$ on the line. Some of you guys kill me. Seriously.

Three 3*s, one 2*, and now an unranked guy as commits for another LB commit. Well, it is discouraging, but when you look at the kids we have offered, and how many of those kids have committed, it's not like we have a lot of options right now. Guess we just have to take who we can get at this point.

I'm sure he's a good coach, but its not like he was hurting for talent at Bama. It's pretty easy to say that most of the coaches down there are good, but you can't really say how good until they are outside that Saban blanket. Just look at Lance Thompson for a good example of that. We all thought he was going to tear it up in recruiting here at UT, but he was rather pedestrian to say the least.

For someone who says stars don't matter you seem to put a lot of stock in them.

And this phase where every non-rated recruit that is taken by UT, is somehow this great player every other coach in America missed out on, is getting tiresome as well. Looking at whose committed right now to other teams, it's not like we have a lot of the top guys to pick from. It's the truth, even if it sucks to look at.

Be honest, do you think LB recruiting here is on par where we need to be to get back into discussion for contending for the SEC??

Crump was a 2*

Harris redshirted last year and tore his ACL in spring practice

Probst has played, but was behind Austin Johnson last year and is behind Herman Lathers this year.

So in your view if a player doesn't play/start a lot of games as a true freshman/sophomore he is a bust?

That's right.We've missed out on the good LB's this year.When we win 9-10 games this year I don't think we'll have to worry about negative recruiting that's going on now.I think dooley is doing a fantastic job recruiting.Hopefully Vereen and Zanca will get a 4th *.
