Lawsuit-nuisance or major distraction?

Who knows how long it will take to settle this. Sounds like a scheme for some to pocket money....especially attorneys.

If Tennessee doesn't settle to make this go away it could take years. The accused may be long gone by then and everyone will have forgotten about it. Hell, in today's fast paced society it will be forgotten about anyways in a couple of weeks.

The allegations against the entire UT administration as if they somehow set the stage in hopes a rape would occur then protected the convicted rapist against all punishment while harassing and driving the victim out of school are just preposterous .
Yep, the part about the coaching staff encouraging drinking and raping and so forth is just plain BS. I can see it now; after a game CBJ and staff speaking to the team; "Alright men, you played a great game and represented your University well. Now get on out there, commit some underage drinking and heck, we'll skip some running next week if you can throw in a felony or two by raping some girls. We got your back!".

I think Ramsey is on the right track.

Get the schedule set, and push through it without delay. Plaintiffs request for a delay of the upcoming hearing the day before is a crock. They know the longer the case hangs around, the more UT will pay to settle.

Push that calendar.

It is pretty hypocritical that this women can allege that a famous football player raped her...she tells the whole world who he is but she wants to remain anonymous. If she is telling the truth then let justice prevail. If she is lying to extort $ from UT then she should be put in prison. Regardless, when this is all said and done this women's name better be exposed.

I guess my question is why do YOU need to know that, unless YOU, or you hope someone else teaches that b****h a lesson?

It is a consistent side effect of cases like this that the female accuser gets harassed, regardless of the strength of the case against the defendant.

The defendant will definitely get a chance to depose the Plaintiffs in this case. The other factors balance in favor of keeping their identities confidential.

He was mentioned but he had nothing to do with supposed sexual assualts. A lot of the suit seems as if they are trying to beef their case up with events that have nothing to do with the accusations of the players in question. I noticed Jalen Hurd's incident which had nothing to do with the supposed rape cases were included. I'm guessing they are trying to connect some very loose dots about alcohol, college, rappers, and rape. It's a stretch at best, and name dropping people makes me question their motives. They name AJ as a rapist even though that hasn't been decided yet. This is a big case for not just UT but all campuses and universities. Lawsuits were put in place for tangible, quantitative damages committed by one person to another person or their property. This has a very subjective feel to it with very loosely connected timelines to create boogeymen out of people that had no involvement in the supposed incidents.

If you start at the beginning of the thread I said it wouldn't have that much of an impact on the team as only 2 current players, TKjr & John Doe, are mentioned.

I even said that TKjr wasn't mentioned as an assailant but for having impermissible contact...when other posters weren't aware. That's all.

Well we just hit Drudge. That's about the high water mark as far as exposure goes. :-o

Sorry, wasn't trying to imply you were linking him to any of the sexual assault cases. I was just expounding on the name dropping that took place in the body of the lawsuit. I'm also curious as to who John Doe supposedly is. Pretty much every event has been reported immediately. It would be the only cog in the wheel IMO, because they other events were handled sternly and swiftly, including Von Pearson who turned out to be innocent of what he was accused of. If anyone had a case to sue the university it would possibly be him.

The plaintiffs are greedy, dishonest b@%$#es. It pisses me off that our program may get a bad reputation because of this ridiculous slander.

Will the new lawsuit cost us former wins, bowl game eligibility, player suspensions, and or firing of our current football coaches including butch jones? is it this serious?? is it going to wreck our 2016 season before it has even started?

And there goes our resident cliff jumper. As always. It's extremely unlikely that this will affect our 2016 season in any way.

No worries.

IMO, I still don't think this will have that much of an impact on the players. This case is above the players (admin, etc.). A month from now we'll be gearing up p for Spring practice and life will move on.

It is not "or" ... it is AND. It is both distraction and nuisance.

The good thing is that it may bring about a needed change in administration personnel.

Clay Travis was correct. Maybe this will convinced that Title lX should be changed so that any and all suspected crimes which has the potential to be covered by Title lX shot be reported to the Police Department which is trained to conduct criminal investigations and required the college to provide any and all information to the Police department. While that was done in at least in one college, FSU, the Police Department failed to carry out their responsibility. That Police Department should have been charged with their neglignce and those where were guilty of that negligence should have been fired and tried for their crime by the Federal judicial system. No university has personel who are trained or the experience to carry out such an investigation. That clause will fail over 99% of the time.

******n it's a CIVIL LAWSUIT FOR A PAYDAY ,NOT AN NCAA INVESTIGATION OR A CRIMINAL TRIAL.
Thanks for listening.

A month from now we will be all talking March Madness and TV programs like Finebaum etal will have something to talk about. His show has bottomed out rating wise since Bowl games are over and the demographics for the show is the state of Alabama. Now he has started talking Peyton Manning, UT title IX and has got a little bump in ratings. These people are looking for hits to keep $$$ rolling in until something else maintains. Heck everybody around this is $$$ hungry.
