Lawrence Frank - Boston Celtics Assistant

Frank is a NBA guy. He wants to be an NBA head. Why would he stop at Tennessee?

I believe we need to refocus our efforts to smaller fish. We are not a program that will land a big name coach from a school. We are mid-level just like many of the other schools. We could go higher but it takes time.

I think Frank probably wants the Celtic job. He knows he can bide his time at Tennessee and win. Just a theory. As displayed above, I really know very little about the guy.

Probably but he would take ANY NBA head job. It's not easy to convince a guy t come to a college that's getting hammered by probation when he hopes to be an NBA head.

He completely flipped Bama? They made the NIT with good talent in the worst division by far in all of the BCS conferences. Maybe some people just have lower expectations than I do.

They went 12-4 in the SEC. They beat us, Georgia and Kentucky. It was a joke that they weren't in the NCAA tournament. Should they have scheduled differently, sure. But they were the third best team in our league. I would prefer Gregg Marshall, I think. At this point, he'd be my choice. (I also think Brad Stevens is the classiest act in the country and would love to have him too, but I don't think that's doable.)

That Bama program was in the absolute dumps when he took it over. I think 2011 will show what he has.

Their record is basically the same as when Gottfried was there. Gottfried went 20-12, 17-16, and was 12-7 when he resigned. Anthony Grant has gone 17-15 and 22-11 and made one NIT. I just don't see the remarkable turnaround.

To solve the "What if Lawrence Frank leaves us high and dry?" debate: Hamilton is going to give him a huge buyout if he tries and leaves. I think Frank knows that. Hopefully it's not the hang up if there are contract negotiations, but hopefully we can put a $3-5M buyout.

They barely beat us when Hopson was out and they beat a mediocre Georgia team and a UK team that essentially lost to everyone on the road except us. Nothing to get excited about.

Also, they had some bad losses to Iowa, St. Peter's, Seton Hall, and they were destroyed by Purdue.

Scheduled differently? Maybe they should have simply not lost to Iowa, St. Peter's, Seton Hall, and Providence. They had no business in the NCAA Tournament. They are right where they should be.

I think they improved a lot from the beginning of the year. I realize that teams are judged on a body of work, but that team had a long way to go. I thought they were one of the top 30-35 or so teams in the country by the end of the season, better than several of the 8 and 9 seeds.

I doubt it. A top 30-35 team doesn't get raped in Gainesville by 30 the last week of the season.

Kind of like the beat down we took to the Cats in the SEC tourney, last year. It happens.

It was our third game in as many days and UK was #1 in the country. What was Bama's excuse for losing to UF in the regular season and then getting absolutely annihilated by UK in the SEC tourney?

I don't know. We can both go back and forth trying to use specifics, rather than deduction, to make our points all day long. Kentucky is playing some very good ball. If they hadn't draw Ohio State, I would have penciled them into my final four. I realize that Bama had some bad losses. But they also played some good tough basketball throughout the SEC season. I happen to think they deserved and NCAA bid since they were 13-5 in the SEC, 4-3 against the east. (Possibly 14-4, 5-2 if the refs didn't take a hand in Nashville). I understand your logic. I just don't think the case is as open and shut as you do. The SEC, especially the West, is weak. But the team with the second best conference record should be dancing. I'll argue no more about Anthony Grant, for now. I think he'll continue to win at Alabama though.

I have no problem whatsoever with Frank coming in and filling the coffers with talent, then heading back to the League.

I think 3-5 years of Lawrence Frank would be worth it.
