She committed to Pat when she was in the eight grade and her future looked bright like the sun. She was super smart and wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon. In high school she was involved in a very serious car accident and hurt pretty bad. She never did develop after that but Pat honored her scholly as she should have. Lauren played her freshman year but was really not a D1 player at that time so she transferred to Rhodes College in Memphis and had a great career there. May be a great coach for Lipscomb like she was at Rhodes. May see her somewhere down the road!

I recall the game at Vandy her freshman year. She saved the game for us with key steals and buckets.

Glad to see she's doing well....always liked her. I remember she had a ton of hype when she was young but the car accident ruined her development. Life has really blossomed for her since she left UT. She tore it up at Rhodes, finished her degree (pre-med) and Masters, now has 2 years of HC experience at her alma mater and is a D1 head coach at age 26 or 27. She's absolutely killing it.

Lauren spent most of her freshman year at Tenn dealing with injuries and allergies. Then CPS announced incoming Ariel Massengale would be her starting PG before she even set foot on campus. Lauren transferred to Rhodes, where she averaged >25 ppg as a senior and was runner-up for D-3 NPOY. She's both talented and a hard worker, and is going to be an awesome coach.

I tend to agree with Gule, one of the few if only time that PHS forecast an incoming freshman as the starter. Lauren , as I remember, played good on the ball defense that year.

Knowing Pat's history as it applies to her players, maybe the announcing Massingale kept her decision (and Lauren's?) from being the embarrassment it could have been. This gave Lauren the less painful way out.

This was the first inkling I had that CPS was not herself.

There was much more to this story, but the story is not appropriate for a message board. I do remember well, however, not only the Vandy game but the Louisville opening game. Avant and Simmons literally put on a show and won the game for the team. I remember then thinking that Lauren was a winner. With regard to Massengill being named a starter, that was mostly on DeMoss. She scouted her and told Pat that she would be the greatest pg ever at Tennessee.

I am proud that Lauren is beginning what I believe will be a great career in coaching.
