Laughing Stock of the SEC (says a couple of jorts wearers)

When SEC teams want to be competative they go out and spend the money to get a coach to do the job. Here at Tennessee we are more worried about the budget than the product. In 2011 CDD only made more than coaches at UK and Vandy. In 2012, Franklin now makes more than CDD. You tend to get what you pay for when it comes to coaches. Maybe losing should just be something we expect and should not be surprised when the title of laughing stock is used to describe our football program. We are trying to compete in the SEC with a Big East budget.

Only a troll would claim that we are 'below' a team we've beaten 28 of the last 29 years.

Yep, you're surely a diehard Vol fan.

lol

Lookin up is a TROLL no questions about it. Go back and look at all his posts. Pretty obvious.

We just got to stop trying to live off history understand its the past. A little good history doesnt make us entitled to anything. We have to expect more of our COACHES and players. Some of us also need to stop saying you are a troll because you are critical of a situation. We got to hold UT football to a higher standard and accept nothing less. So yeah right now everyone deserves to laugh at us because they are winning.

I agree it doesn't entitle us to anything but I think it does set the standard for what our goals should be. 9th all-time on the wins list is something we need to keep intact.

It irritates me to see how people talk so much trash about UT and say that we are a terrible program and the laughing stock of the SEC, some even say we are not worthy of being in the SEC anymore. I don't understand their reasoning since we are still one of the all time winningest programs, 6 National Championships, ton of NFL players, One of the top programs in bowl games, and more.

Just because we are struggling right now, people want to kick us while were down. I can not wait until we rise again and shut these people up.

Our DC search is making our program look desperate with the names of La Tech's DC and Buddy Green. Read what Florida Gator fans think of UT

This is what happens when you go to the cess pool of message boards. It's best to stay away from there. Reading anything from that site is and always will be worthless.

Lets compare the 2 coaches who had the task of rebuilding our historic program their first 2 years.

Majors - 9-12-1
Dooley - 11-14

Look to be very similiar records to me, lets not forget that Majors was coming off a NC at Pitt so by all accounts he had a better resume.

Which coupled with his UT heritage deservedly gave him some leeway with the fans. He had proven he knew how to build a winner at Pitt. So far Dooley has only proven that he knows how to lose and act like a jackass in the process.

How has he acted like a jackass?

You mean how he is a meanie to his players, and raises his voice during practice?

Have you changed your nappies yet today?

The only ones acting like jackasses are our fans...boo,hoo,hoo

This is TN football and we should be winning the sec and national championships.

Most of our fans have lost perspective of where we were when CDD took over and cry like little babies. Next year is where we find out what kind of coach we have. Until then, stop all the whining.

I was around back in those days and I would not say fans gave him more leeway. We had just come off sending a moving van to Battles house and there were lots of fans who felt Majors was a mistake.

Interesting, most of the ones I know thought it was a solid hire.

Given their track records before they came, who would you put your money on as being the better hire during their time. Majors or Dooley?

Before the first season for Majors everyone was singing when Johnny comes marching home again hoo rah hoo rah, after going 4-7 they were singing Johnny go back to Pitt.

As far as which one was the better hire, its too early to say. Majors had an easier time recruiting because the program was not as run down as when Dooley took over. Majors also had the luxury of recruiting when the SEC was not as strong as it is today and there was no Arky or USCjr so going into those states to get recruits to play in the SEC was easier not to mention the internet wasn't around causing all sorts of issues.

That wasn't the question.

Given their previous stints as HCs who was the better hire for UT at that time?

I see it pretty simple. Dooley may turn out to be a fantastic coach here, or somewhere else, but neither of us know. All we know is what he has done at LA Tech and his short time here.

Majors had won a championship before returning home to UT. You had a better idea of what he could do.

So its not just a Dooley hate thing?
