Lattimore's leg injury (merged)

He wasn't crying because he was in complete shock. You could tell in his eyes that he wasn't totally there after he took his helment off.

I can't imagine the freakin pain he must be experiencing today.

Very sad situation.

It was the closest I have ever seen to having someone lose a limb on the football field. I looked away immediately once I saw the play back when I got home, and gagged. It was far worse than McGahee's, and that says it all.

This is the report on CBS Sportsline:
South Carolina's Marcus Lattimore is believed to have injuries similar to those suffered by Miami's Willis McGahee in the 2002 national championship game, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.
More on Lattimore injuryStories
Lattimore remained hospitalized on Sunday after suffering a horrendous second-quarter right-knee injury against Tennessee. The source said the injury could require multiple surgeries and major reconstruction could be involved.
In the 2003 Fiesta Bowl, McGahee suffered a left-knee injury that resulted in damage to his ACL, PCL and MCL.
McGahee went through multiple surgeries and returned to play in the NFL.
While Lattimore may not have the exact ligament damage as McGahee, the injuries could be considered bad enough to require an extensive rehabilitation period.
Lattimore was carted off the field after the injury and taken to a local hospital. The school continues to say the he will be evaluated this week and is out indefinitely.

Terrible injury on a terrific young man. I feel really bad for Marcus and his family. I hope he makes it back.

I was very impressed with the class and respect the UT team showed. CDD may not be winning but the entire UT team handles themselves with a lot of respect and class. I saw it myself when the Vols came to Athens. They played hard, showed alot of sportmanship, and a classy team overall.

Who was the guy saying yesterday lattimore blew EVERYTHING in his knee, and broke his patela, fibula etc?????

Spurrier just released a statement, "dislocated knee".

You guys do realize a dislocated knee is still a serious injury, right? It was pretty obvious the knee was dislocated, just watch the video. Mcghaee dislocated his knee as well, it also resulted in the tearing of 3 of the 4 major ligaments in the knee.

I believe I stated that in the Lattimore's leg injury thread on the football forum.

It'd be a damn miracle if he only had a dislocated knee.

Watch Gordon walk off to the left by himself, i knew he feels terrible, i feel reaaly bad for him as well as Lattimore

Wrong thread. I'm glad it isn't as bad as it looked, but post this somewhere else. This is the second tine you have posted this in here.

It's as bad as it looks . Spurrier is not releasing all the info . He tore everything and broke his knee cap/ femur/ and ruptured tendons.

Where did you see this reported? I'm watching the race on ESPN right now and on the ticker at the bottom it said the team doctor says it was a dislocated knee and that there is a possibility he could play next year or it could be a year long recovery. Certainly sounds a lot less catastrophic that the report you must have seen.

I believe that it was a USCe beat-writer who circulated that, and that was where I had heard it.

I'll be more than happy to hear that what I have posted was wrong.

UGA, that means a lot right now. Thanks for taking the time to say so.

Is career ending, could we see him take Jeff Fisher's path after his injury? As in being a coach? I really hope he heals and plays next level though. Hate to see this happen.

Spurrier said it isn't. The final diagnosis isn't in yet, but as of right now, it seems as though he'll be alright. All they know is it's dislocated and doesn't look to be any major breaks. Main concern now is how bad the tearing is.

The word right now is femur fracture and all four ligaments torn. Haven't seen this officially stated yet though. If true, I would have to imagine his chances of playing again are low.

This plus multiple muscle tears. He will be lucky to walk without a limp ever again to be honest. Hope he somehow makes it all the way back though. Wish him the best
