Latest Coronavirus - Yikes

I never said that , my point has been very simple this whole time . One study , the one you saddled up and rode to this point , isn’t and should be the reason a specific group of people aren’t getting the vaccine . I have given you multiple accounts in that link showing when no one group has the market cornered on being used as government Guinea pigs . You suggested other groups “haven’t been as horribly as the blacks have “. Did you read the article I posted ?

You're misrepresenting what I've stated.

It's never been about one "study", the Tuskegee study is simply the latest flavor since it lasted up until 1972 and the ones still fresh in their minds. I cited an article that laid out the many, many times the community has been used as a pin cushion - and that cumulatively, those experiences are what the black community points at when rationalizing their reluctance to trusting the government and related healthcare offerings.

You appear to be trying to desperately make this my argument, it's not. I'm simply pointing out what the black community is saying - your dismissive "toughen up" response is noted. No, I didn't read your article - because I don't dispute that other atrocity's have occurred. The fact that other subsets of a population have been punched in the mouth doesn't lesson the aversion another set may have to getting another shot to the grill.

The big 10 wanted to shut down sports with there was a hint covid caused this. Now that there is a hint the vaccine might cause this, not a squeak.
Yes I find it interesting. I just did my physical Friday for new job. She asked me why I hadn’t gotten a covid vaccine. I said I’ve already had a pretty severe case and trust that my body is protecting me with natural immunity since I’ve worked with covid pts since last year and didn’t get it again. Would you like to test if I’m seropositive? Uh... no.
They didn’t want to run a covid test either before they send me into ICU.

You are the one that has been saying blacks maybe more than any other group has been used by the government as test subjects ,correct ?

Does anybody here ever check the references in news articles? I decided to with this CNN article:

US coronavirus: A new coronavirus variant is on the rise. Here's why experts are concerned - CNN

Specifically, this quote grabbed my attention:

But health experts worry the Alpha variant could be trumped by the Delta variant, which appears to be even more transmissible and may cause more severe illness for those not vaccinated.

When you follow the linked reference to "appears to be even more transmissible and may cause more severe illness", you get this article - again from CNN:

Delta variant: What we know about the Covid-19 strain first found in India - CNN

In that article, I find this quote with another linked reference to what I'm hoping has the data I'm looking for from the original article:

Is it more deadly?
Early evidence suggests the Delta variant could cause an increased risk of hospitalization in comparison to the Alpha strain, according to Public Health England (PHE).

Following that reference, it links to this site:

Confirmed cases of COVID-19 variants identified in UK - GOV.UK (www.gov.uk)

The best quote I can find from that website is this:

With this variant now accounting for the overwhelming majority of new cases in the UK, it is encouraging to see that the increase in cases is not yet accompanied by a similarly large increase in hospitalisations. PHE will continue to monitor closely over the next few weeks, but the data currently suggest that the vaccination programme continues to mitigate the impact of this variant in populations who have high 2 dose vaccine coverage.

So, this CNN article is throwing around fear of the delta variant, and backs it up with links to multiple other CNN articles that eventually lead it back to an article published by the UK Government that doesn't even support it.

I only perused the articles, and didn't study them in depth, so I may have missed the punchline I was looking for. But it looks like on the surface CNN flat out lied in its original article and buried the evidence three articles deep in a British article that supports no such thing.

Ridiculous.

I was on a flight from Denver to Orlando yesterday and a man and his children were in the row in front of me. Major country bumpkin types. Dad was a loudmouth simpleton who engaged another passenger about the virus. Shocking stuff he was relaying from 8chan, and claims centering on (what I learned later is) a fake video or claim of video by Bill Gates about how the virus was engineered so as to create a vaccine and thereby to take the "God gene" out of people so they are less religious.

And you could tell he bought into all of it, hook line and sinker.

I don't know what's worse. The evil people who propagate this nonsense or the country's educational system for so poorly educating people with the basic skills to reason their way out of it.

No, all I've posited is that the distrust is based on a systemically racist history of abuse - and THAT is the rationale some in the black community are citing as not getting vaccinated.

I've not included, or I didn't intend to include any personals opinion as to the validity to their stated fears.

Truthfully, this whole conversation was a redirection from the fact that the largest subset of unvaccinated American's are the trumpers. Which to my earlier point was that this is the same subset that makes damn sure Donnie gets credit for the speed at which the vax was brought to market, but also abstains from the vaccine - citing the speed it was brought to market.

I wonder if the god gene is the one that keeps us from becoming walking, talking magnets.

You should have sneezed on that ignorant bastard.

Or told him that it was gods will and question who he thought he was to try and understand something so far beyond his mortal understanding.

Either or both courses seem like they'd have elicited a redneck response that ended with him being escorted from the plane in flex cuffs.

The real issue is if the possible short-, mid-, and long-term effects of the vaccine are better or worse than the possible short-, mid-, and long-term effects of having COVID.
Agreed. And to add to that, whether or not after having HAD ChinaFlu, whether or not the vaccines introduce any unknown effects (kind of obvious actually because there are ZERO long term data on them. So the question is why double your chances of having something go wrong if you have had it? You are already all in with the natural infection.

You lefties want people ignorant and compliant. I would think you would have seen that simpleton as clay to be molded in government's image.

To be fair, the left believes and propagates some pretty stupid ****, too.

No thanks, you've already made up your mind when I see this as your "data" for your assertion.

I've had the virus, science has shown I am now protected. I expect many other educated people of come to the same understanding and thus arent getting the vaccine.
That’s where I am. Natural immunity.

A bit of a circular logic conundrum, people don't trust the vaccine because it's not approved by the government that they also don't trust. Are you suggesting that if it were to be approved that the partisan right would suddenly shrug and start logging onto CVS for appointments?
Last I checked Congress doesn’t do the clinical trials. You’re equivocating the term government in this sense.
