What is your personal benchmark as far as when you think things ought to open up?
And, no, this is not meant to be an argument. I’m genuinely interested in what people think about this.
Me? I'm not sure at this point but I'd like to see the overall infection rate start down but without comprehensive testing there's no way to tell. I'd like to see the morbidity rate trend lower as well. I'd dearly love to see a viable vaccine.
But when the experts are saying "we're not there yet" I have a tendency to believe them. There's a reason they know more about this stuff than you (or I) do.
The following is a global "you" as opposed to you personally.......
You defer to an expert every time you go to the doctor, or the dentist, or the pharmacy. You defer to an expert whenever you call a plumber to fix your water leak. You defer to an expert every time you take your car to the dealership (or any other mechanic). You defer to an expert (electrician) whenever you trip a breaker and can't figure out why. You defer to an expert every time you take your pet to a vet. You defer to an expert every time you take opinions on what computer to buy, or phone, or tablet. I could go on, and on, and on.....
But for some reason we've got people that think the experts in this case are wrong. Just because <reasons>. Or Trump. Or Democrats. Or China. Or simply because "I don't wanna".
You'll listen to experts in every case where you've
elicited their advice but when they tell you something
that you didn't ask for or you don't want to agree with you balk.
Why? What makes you more of an expert on this than they are? Is it because you think they have some insidious, nefarious design on you personally? Or the contents of your wallet? Or are you so insecure that you just won't take advice simply because you didn't specifically ask for it?
This is like not taking advice from someone seeing you play Russian Roulette with a semi-automatic pistol when they tell you it's a bad idea.
Too many people are disagreeing with the experts on this because they don't agree with someone'e political beliefs.
