It is bittersweet. I wanted him gone because of recent performance, but I would have enjoyed it more if he was actually able to win the SEC, get to a BCS bowl, win it, and remain coach. Kind of like a second life. That didn't happen though. I greatly appreciate Fulmer's past achievements, but it was time for him to go. Fulmer at UT just became stale and stagnant. I wish him the best of luck in the future (Unless an SEC school hires him...). I am excited about the future without him.

It was fun for a while, then it sucked for a long time after that. Adios muchacho.

It is kind of a scary time really. A lot is left to the unknown now. Who will be coming in as HC and will they turn it around? Are we in for a long agonizing wait before Tennessee battles for the SEC crown again? It boils down to the fact that Phil wasn't, isn't and never would be able to get it done. I wish him well and thank him for what he accomplished before the game passed him by. Do I feel sorry for him? Hell no. I am a working stiff and it's hard for me to feel sorry for someone who loses their job but at the same time hits the lottery.

he was doomed by his own success....maybe u will miss him when we go thru 3 or 4 coaches in the next 5 years

he spoiled us....then turned us against him

I think your son punches you in the head too much. We will not have 3 or 4 coaches in 5 years.

Good riddance to Phil. I supported him for a long time but now I am not sad at all to see him leave. He made his bed.

And, his coaching decisions today just proved, that without a doubt, his departure is the best thing that happened to UT in 5-6 years

I will miss Fulmer. At the same time, I am excited about seeing what is going to happen. Good luck to him.

Lets get this train rolling and see what is going to happen come September 2009 :) On the field

You cannot be serious.

Here's my response: when the next head coach wins more games in his first two years than Fulmer did in his last two years, you show back up here for your crow sandwich.

Go Vols.

Sad isn't exactly the word I would use to describe the end of this era.

And frankly, I'm not so sure he will cherish this week more than any other.

Personally, I hope an SEC East school does hire him. That's an automatic win for us, four years out of five.

Go Vols.

Oh well, better days are ahead for Volnation! We have some talent, just not the leadership we need.
