All of these threads popping up or being taken over regarding price increases, has that stopped you from attending games in person? I have read much about the comforts of watching from the recliner and so forth and, increasing prices from those who are season ticket holders and the like but has the increased costs associated with just the tickets themselves kept you from attending?

Last attended game was Kentucky last year. Before that, NC State in Charlotte.

The costs have definitely kept me from attending games in the past. Used to make 1-2 games a year, even when I was three time zones away, but in recent years it's become more sporadic. Mostly due to costs. I've passed on a number of games just by checking the prices and saying "naaah I'm good."

Along that same line, I've had some lifelong friends who used to go to games with me quite often. Some of it is Tennessee being a strugglebus for the past fifteen years. That probably dampened our collective enthusiasm as well (2022 helped in that regard, as we since went to a game).

But, in thinking about secondary factors like that, it's not just the actual ticket prices themselves. The value proposition has changed. The overly-controlled and monetized gameday experiences, the sport being professionalized, the dwindling significance of the regional rivalries, it all makes that much harder to want to spend exorbitant amounts to come to the games. And the gamedays have become a real mess too. It used to busy but not packed - walk the strip, get a beer, watch the early game on TV for a while. The pregame atmosphere was busy but not jam packed. Not now. Now every gameday feels like a crowded commercial zoo.

I can’t remember when it was but I remember Larry Seivers publicly bowing out because he felt the AD was jacking him with price gouging. I do remember, however, it was during our 15 year slump.

Ole Miss.

Yes, I don't go anymore because of prices but that's okay because Tennessee football is good again.

Also, I only like to sit in Terrace or better.

I hate how tight the seating is in anything lower. I'd rather watch at home.

It’s been a few years, pre-COVID. It just got to where I could watch from home or on a cabin trip with friends and save money and time. Also there was the added benefit of pausing the game to grab another drink, that I also save money on by not going to the game…

Alabama 2024.

Tickets are only 1/3 of the problem. Lodging and commuting is the other 2/3.

I’ll go to a game if it starts at noon, I’ll drive back afterwards. If I’m planning on taking a friend who lives in Knoxville, I’ll be staying at their place. Otherwise I watch the game from home, texting with all of you ladies and gentlemen.

For me it wasn't so much the prices. Construction forced me to give up seats held since the 60s. Moved to the terrace and while it made the experience way more comfortable, the Dooley factor and product on the field broke my will to attend in person. Moved since then and now I'm even further away so there's no desire to attend anymore.

I had 14 tickets in section B which I gave up in 2020. Age, Health and Covid were the reasons at that time. It had become more difficult to motor around campuses and stadiums for these old legs and hips. Plus, when I had to commit the money, there was not a clear picture if there was going to be a season or not. Others using some of the tickets also didn't want to commit.

Having said that, the cost for those same seats has tripled from what I was paying and I would not pay those prices if offered to me.

Didn't answer question: Took my grandson to Charlotte for NC State last year. We are going to Mississippi State game this year for $60 per ticket. I have tried to get him to one game a year last few years for reasonable tickets.
