67-56 over the Gators
62-58 loss to MSU
65-62 loss to UK

187-183 aggregate in favor of the Vols against three top-20 teams.

Considering that they had to travel and play late on Thursday in Starkville against a very good MSU team, get back the early-morning hours on Friday then play a noon game on Saturday against a powerhouse UK team. You have to feel hopeful at this team's immediate future competing with such strong competition in consecutive games. Not to mention, with the addition of Stokes whose showing in the UK game was absolutely outstanding, makes this team even better.

- 13 turnovers against UF (15 turnovers)
- 14 turnovers against MSU (9 turnovers)
- 15 turnovers against UK (13 turnovers)

Lots to build on in the remainder of the season. This team is starting to buy into CCM's defensive scheme and improving on execution with more and more time within the system. Lots of room for improvement in several areas, but judging from the last three games this team is improving on defense holding all three teams well under their season averages.

Go Vols, keep improving.

good post.
definitely seems like the team is starting to buy in and understand what ccm is wanting from his players. i think the turnovers are a big number to always watch with this team, especially since our pg is still learning the position. ccm would really like the turnovers to be around 10 a game so i would suspect we start to see a little bit better taking care of the basketball. those limited turnovers could be the difference in a couple of those close games.

At the end of the halves we seem to lose the handle. I think we will get this fixed in time. The defense is really starting to gel.

If we played MS here we win the game. If we play KY at Rupp we lose by 10. In Feburary we may be ready to do some damage, but I believe we will be up & down all year, with more ups than downs.

I remember when games in the 60's were boring to the UT fanbase. We were so used to scoring 80 every night.

But, with this defensive intensity, games in the 60's have been great to watch.

its a nice change of pace to watch fundamentally sound basketball, played with great intensity and effort. i love watching these guys get after it on defense and get as excited for creating a steal and turnover as they are for slamming it down at the other end.

Agreed. I love seeing a shot clock run under 10 when the opponents have the ball.

watching MSU constantly be under 10 seconds and not having had the ball inside the 3 point line was awesome to see. unfortunately we then go out and do whatever we possibly can to lose the game, but it was fun.

Eh... we don't have the horses right now to win. When players like Woolridge and McBee get extended minutes on your team, you aren't exactly oozing with talent.

which is why i think maymon, stokes, hall, golden, tatum, and richardson need to see as much time as possible.
