If we have a spot open at rb, the choices we've made clear are d Scott, b Powell. Darrel Williams to lsu? D law academically not good. Id love to see us go after the Minnesota commit Jeff jones.

I think we shouldn't take another RB this yr, but take two more next yr. the choices seem slim this yr being so late. Also if tragedy streaks we can use D. Young, Elliot Berry, Justin King, Reeves-Maybin, TK2, Pig, etc...
We could use the spot to poach a QB from a school that loses their coach if they like one enough.

I don't think Paulk grey shirts that has already been said. He will probably de-commit and try to go else were if we try to grey shirt him. I rather us keep what we have to use for next year's class or try and get Andrew Williams this year other than that just chill.

Have you seen our RB depth chart?? We need to take another back this year, as well as, take 2 next cycle.

Paulk has already made mention about possibly grey shirting. He knows it is in his best interest for his career to make the most production out of his 4-5 years, and not lose a year trying to get fully healthy. If he was going to go somewhere else if we grey shirt him, then don't you think he would have already opened his recruitment back up to look at other options? He is a VFL, whether we sign him this cycle or next cycle as a grey shirt.

He may have talked about grayshirting at some point, but in the most recent interview I have seen with him (in his thread), he said he would be here in the summer. The article also said that he is ahead of schedule with his rehab and that the possibility of him being able to play at some point next season it is not completely out of the realm of possibility.

I agree that grayshirting would make a lot of sense for him, but based on that most recent interview, it doesn't sound like that is the plan.

Edit: I went back and looked at Paulk's thread. Here is the interview: Treyvon Paulk Interview 12.10.13 - YouTube
The interviewer does kind of put words in his mouth, saying you'll be there in June. Treyvon says "yes sir."

Here is the other tidbit about him being ahead of schedule on his rehab. That was from Ryan Callahan

On Paulk's recovery:

"Everything I've heard so far about Paulk's recovery has been pretty encouraging. I think he's coming along well enough that he definitely shouldn't be written off for next season. He still has a long way to go, obviously, but his progress over the past three months has been good.

As of right now, I have no reason to believe he might not sign with Tennessee in February. I don't think he's likely to be fully recovered until at least the summer, but that might be a realistic goal based on where he is right now. We're hoping to catch up with Paulk soon for an update."

Based on what I have read, I think we will/should sign him in February. He will have benefit of expert rehab facilities and trainers. If he is not ready, he will red-shirt and be at full strength for winter workouts in 2015 ah be ready to run wild in Sept. 2015.

I don't believe Paulk has mentioned grey shirting at all. All that talk came from us

I agree. Bring him in this year and if he isn't ready he can redshirt. He will get to go through a better rehab program here and train with the rest of the team as well. I personally don't think he grey shirts either way, the numbers aren't as tight as they were when people were speculating about it b4. We easily have room for him and another RB in this class.

I believe CBJ would rather have Paulk on campus under the guidance of the Vol training staff ASAP, i.e. June. I would say that a red shirt would be the logical option depending on the progress of his recovery.

For the 2014 class, I agree that it's Williams or nothing. Of course with all the coaching changes, a target might pop up, but I doubt it.

Scott or nobody IMO.

If scott signs that means Paulk grey shirts IMO.

I agree. If we can't get D. Scott, pocket the scholly, unless another quality name pops up due to the coaching carousel. No need to give them out just to give them out.

I know Pig played some rb in HS, I would like to see how he would do in this backfield. This would get another slot playmaker on the field and help our speed. I think if we strike out on Scott we might see this.

How good is Pickett from Maryland?

Let's do a prisoner exchange with bama: Derrick Henry for Peterman, Orta and a laptop thieve/stoner to be named later.

CBJ can sell it to Paulk, Hurd and others that the top programs are well stocked at RB and that they can perform better when they share reps with other great quality RBs. This allows them to go balls to the wall and not worry about getting gassed.

We've told Scott we were recruiting him and him only for our last spot. If we go for another one we burn any credibility we have with him IMO.

I'd like to see this since we brought in two high level receivers (Pearson, Malone) who should immediately be able to play WR inside or outside. I think they could use Pig very similarly to RDAIII at Cincy.

Sadly, I'm not sure we'll see it happen because Junior year is a little late for a position change (though they did move Devrin Young as a junior). I'm not sure how kindly Pig would take to being used largely as a role player/depth player at a different position his last two years.
