Last nights game doesn't change the fact

There's that word "fact" again yet only opinion provided.

You're right. It is merely an opinion. We were opportInistic. And their kicker was shaky. We got our once in a generation Hail Mary and falling on a fumble in the end zone. I personally don't think we were as good as our 8-4 record last year.

GT could go 10-2 or 9-3 this year. Chill out. We don't have to play that offense anymore.

Seriously. 2014 GT finished 11-3, blew Clemson out, barely lost the ACC championship game by 2 points to FSU and blew out a very very good Mississippi State team in the Orange bowl...they won the ACC in 2009, beating FSU on the road and beat Clemson twice that season. Last year they went 9-4...

Paul Johnson is 5-5 against Dabo Swinney and is 3-2 against Jimbo Fischer. He can coach with the best and doesn't have nearly the types of players that Dabo and Jimbo enjoy.

That Jones is more lucky than good. That will run out at some point.

Fulmer got fired because we weren't going to beat Bama and Fla. Dooley got fired because he started losIng to Vandy and Kentucky. Butch's fate will be determined by W/L against the 4 lowest rated SEC teams on our schedule. Lose to Vandy, SC 2 years in a row, or have a losing record against either Mizz or Vandy...and the program is not much better than the one be inherited.

Now I remember what I forgot to get at Lowe's. A bug zapper. If we gotta hear this, that is enough from those dang buzzing insects.

To the contrary, my expectations went up. When the trip op is clicking, you can't do a lot about it except score more points. The only real disappointment last night would be the GT defense. They should ah e made sure their O didn't get an L after the night they had.

We, on the other hand, showed grit, and that we do have talent and players that can step it up and deliver at the right time.

And we found out we have playmakers on O.

Last night wasn't luck. It was hard work and hanging around and capitalizing.

The tell tell is what do we do from here out with what we found last night.

EXACTLY.

there are literally many instances when the triple option is being ran well....and it was smooth as butter last night....but you can't really do anything. You can roll them to the sidelines, but if they are having B and C backs slam into your D players legs....they can't tackle the guy with the ball.

The Triple Option actually attacks the defense. They lay those cut blocks...which is basically an offensive tackle....and the back just runs where they see open air. Hard to tackle their guy when they are tackling your guys lolol

No way GT wins 10 games. They almost beat us with a WR playing QB. Sound familiar????

We weren't as good as our 13-0 record in 1998 either. Just ask lady luck. That Arky game is this years GT game. in 98, there were several occasions where the luck could have fell another direction, and we would have been 10-3 maybe if we were lucky. Ask Saban if luck plays a role in wins even for his teams.

CBJ is hardly Saban so stop right there.

Go the EFF away!! Tell me something, does this in someway make u feel better about yourself??

My self esteem is just fine. Many posters have taken issue with my opinion (sure it's not a fact). But whatever.

If you think we beat a really good team, we will agree to disagree. They were breaking in an entirely new backfield, running an offense that generally requires a few weeks to work out the timing. Could've fooled me.

My expectations in year 5 are clearly higher that some of those on this board. We are closer to the 4th best team in the SEC East than we are to winning it. just my opinion.

QB Justin Thomas was the man at GT....he was a WR converted to QB. He even plays in the NFL as a WR now. But he had like 8800 yards of offense and 70 TDs while at Tech.

I wouldn't count them out. No one saw them coming in 2014 or 2009 either...

They win maybe 7 games.

You guys kill me with your negativity. Unless you have ever played against the flexbone offense( GT has a great one), then you really don't need to be running your mouth about our defense or giving up all those yards. It is extremely tough and even tougher when the QB starts throwing in the counter run. GT can easily put up 400 yards rushing on a Saban defense. The offense in the first half hurt our defense. They wore down and it's hard to recover. I personally think we played a heck of a ballgame and more importantly....WE DIDNT QUIT IN THE 4th QUARTER!

Did we win? I can never tell by reading posts.

Yes...after ever having the lead until the second overtime and needing a fumble as the opponent was going in for the nail in the coffin score as team team without a single player that could've gotten a ut scholarship. But yes, we did win so I guess that's all that matters

School record for rushing yards allowed. Can't that be pointed out?

We had 8 months to prepare for this offense. I

We had that few offensive downs because the defense didn't get stops. See how that works?

Funny, I thought it was due to Jennings and Wolf dropping about 4 balls that all would have been 1st downs.

Hey, a win is a win. I'd rather be UT than Texas a and m. Just saying i don't feel as optimistic (for the whole season) as I did before the game. Gotta play these teams and see what happens.

Funny, I'm more optimistic after this game. And I already had us winning the East. We have a QB that can put the team on his shoulders and go out there and win it. We have a run game that is going to be special. Kelly is a man among boys. What little we saw of Chandler was impressive. We have a superstar in Callaway. Even though our defense was pushed around all night, they stood up and made the plays when they had to. Plenty of things to work on for sure, especially on defense. But I'm encouraged.

It's both. The lack of sustained drives on offense and the inability of the defense to make stops. It's a team sport.

Dormady was shaky at first but his offensive line and receivers did very little to help him early on.

Stupid response. Fulmer got fired because they had an idiot AD that wanted to make a name for himself and he talked Big Jim into not letting him stay around and surpass Neyland's records. So he began sabotaging the program a few years earlier. Then Hammy brought in Clawson as the coach in waiting. It all blew up and Hammy lost his gig and Tennessee will continue for a very long time before they win 10 in a year again.

Jones may not be the answer long term....but he wasn't gonna get fired for losing an opener to GA Tech (another 9-4 team)....so long story short you should be happy UT stole that one.

Jones certainly didn't outcoach anyone last night, but the one FACT you can't take away from Jones is that his kids DO NOT QUIT AND THEY PLAY VERY HARD FOR HIM.

Exactly I give that to Butch they play for him and this game didn't matter if Tennessee would of lost, just a lot of more heat that Butch would of got today.. he's getting some but it would of been like Sumlin at A&M... jus prove me wrong Butch and keep winning and get Tenn to the East championship game..
