Im not going to blame scott because those wr's besides Brandon Johnson don't know the plays. How can u have a consistent offense if guys don't know where to go. We didn't see these things last year..One more thing Mcbride needs to be the starter he is the best Qb on the roster hands down.. He look better than JG and Dormady on there 1st start.

I could give two craps about all that..

How did this offense that is so damn terrible according to so many keyboard coaches on here, along with two lackeys at OC put a suspect QB and a TE playing running back into the Top 5 all time at their respective positions?

The biggest problem with this offense is poor line play, something Walt Wells was hired to fix. For whatever reason that didn't work but it's is for certain this offense with CBJ as the Head Coach rolled up a ton of yards before Larry Scott got here.

Hurd being 6th in school history in rushing yards is about the most misleading factoid of all time. Hurd had 589 carries in 2.5 years. That is an enormous amount of touches (Kamara was obviously the better back, but Butch didn't get him enough touches). He averaged 4.5 YPC while at Tennessee, which isn't anything special, and he was flat out awful during 2016 before quitting (3.7 YPC). Travis Henry, our all-time rushing leader, had less carries (556) in his 3 seasons for far more yards and averaged a full yard more per carry on average (5.5).

Dobbs was as successful as he was because he was a great improvised scrambler on 3rd down. He never developed as a passer and had fewer passing yards than Tyler Bray, and Bray played in less games. Of course, he didn't even begin to approach the guys ahead of Bray on the list. Dobbs was a solid QB, but I disagree with this notion that he was one of the greatest to play here or something like that. Casey Clausen, for example, is one of several QBs who were better than Dobbs. Both in terms of how much they won and their individual stats.

I agree with you that a lot the poor play of the offense stems to mediocre to bad offensive line play, which was a hallmark of Butch's teams for as long as he was here. He's had multiple OCs and multiple position coaches at a variety of position groups. Who's the common denominator?

If that is the case then one thing he isn't capable of is manning up and telling his boss that he the system is crap.

The previous OC set offensive records with the crap system, before legions of the miserable ran him out of town.
