When the U finally decided to fire necktie guy, Larry Scott finished the season as interim. He actually made somewhat of a good season out of what was left.

Making the move now gives plenty of time to bag Chip Kelly or at least some other competent coach somewhere in the country. I have faith that the new ad will do the right thing here.

I'm sick and tired of hearing the excuse to not fire Butch Jones because it would be starting all over again in a new system. So what, that's what they need to do. That's the point. There is plenty and I mean plenty of great talent on this roster that a number of competent coaches could come in and win immediately with

keep the staff entact until end of season and then drop them all. Only coach worth keeping beyond that is gillespie and maybe special teams. That is how i see it.

Then you have a very tight window to hire a new coach. Since signing day is in early February. Remember when they fired Dooley and they had to hunt for a coach willing to come? Well, UT ended up with Butch Jones.

If the players know Butch will get the ax at the end of the season, but stays, they will pack it in and they will quit.

If you fire him now and let Larry Scott interim. The players may rally around him. It also sets the tone that UT admin is serious about winning and making sure they hire them a great quality coach.

Larry Scott was the single most responsible individual for this loss. I have never seen such bad play-calling in my life. I'm starting to think he's Butch's Dave Clawson.

1st and Goal on the 1 yard line. You have a Running Back who has been pulverizing Florida's defense. Meanwhile, you have a Quarterback that has thrown interceptions, repeatedly has thrown into coverage, and has underthrown or overthrown several balls. Your opponent has some of the best cornerbacks in the nation. What do you do?

Larry Scott's answer: you make a very risky pass to the opposite corner of the endzone.

Honestly, the worst playcall I've ever seen in my 27+ years of watching UT football.

Lol. Even if Butch is fired Tennessee will never pay for Chip Kelly. Haslam runs this program as far as hiring head coaches... look at browns and he owns that team as well.

Didnt the 2 previous OCs call very similar style of goal line plays?
Maybe butch just wants a yes man calling his infallible plays.

3 games in is A Lot better than 6 games in.
