Larry Scott at OC might be what everyone secretly wants

Thoughts?

Probably the only option with a potentially lame duck HC. Not saying he will get fired, but there's so much uncertainty about whether the new AD will even want Butch that I imagine it's unattractive right now. UT shot itself in the foot by fumbling the AD situation so badly.

Lol@CBJ banking on a guy who has never been an OC. Mind you, this is to save his job, compete in the toughest conference in the nation, and recruit star power. And this is what happens?

Doesnt sound very smart does it? He's banking on unknowns, and unprovens. Not a bright idea in my opinion.

Next year wasn't supposed to be a very good year for UT. Unless Butch goes under 7 wins in 2017, he's not in danger of being fired at the end of next season. With this being the case, getting Scott going with Shoop gelling could surprise while setting up a hopeful 2018. Hoping we're all very pleasantly surprised in a good way this fall.

So instead of saying, "There's always next year." we can say, "There's always the year after next?"

Do people even watch football? When one side of the ball is working, this is exactly what coaches do in coordinator searches. They hire from within looking for a smooth transition.

Hear me out.

So, while a large portion of posters believe they know what OC is "best" for our coaching staff and team, I have faith in Butch (Negas get off here). Debord worked out great as OC (see record book) but fans were increasingly disappointed in recruiting. Debord was not known as a recruiting powerhouse, but like his scheming and play calling, I think this was under appreciated.

At last, enter Larry Scott. Everything a state of Florida stargazer could wish for. Recruiting prowess drips from every word. However, he has no track record calling the plays. This worries me personally, but again I have faith in CBJ. But he could potentially bring in some real talent.

So just ask your self these questions: do I want a guy that everyone knows or a guy that works well with Butch? Do I want a known recruiter or a known play caller? No cheating, don't say both to each question because this is not madden. See AD and hotseat situation. Both situations don't have to be this way. AD could be hired ASAP and Butch should not even be considered for the hotseat.

Larry Scott's value is not only as a recruiter, but to his territory. That area of South Florida regularly puts out more quality football talent than any equal sized area in California or Texas ever did. If promoting him to OC helps keep him here, I will pass on the big name splash hires and take a chance Scott becomes an offensive rock star.

I say screw the AD and hotseat situation.Just because a bunch of media turds and OCD fans say his seat is hot doesn't make it so. And at this point, we will know who the AD is when the hire is made. Though I feel Davenport needs to expedite the process, she isn't letting ESPN's "sources" influence how she stated she would handle the process, and in that I can respect her.

I keep seeing people post that this hire will be his job next season, and the same ones were posting jones was gone this year. You do know just because that's what you want, doesn't mean UT will do it right? I'm just asking where is an official statement saying Butch is gone next year like so many are predicting? I'm not defending him, just saying because it's a rumor on the internet doesn't make it true. Look how many look silly now because "Butch was gone after that vandy loss".
