I have one question, you do realize that the reason Tn is where it is today is because of Kiffin, right? No Kiffin, no Dooley and no Butch. HE is the reason Tn is under .500 since Lane stepped foot on campus.

Don’t blame Hart, Dooley, Butch, Hamilton, or Currie.

One man caused this. He’s not been anywhere longer than 3 years and has been fired at every job, in 3 or less years.

Are you mad today? And you want to start the next decade the same way this one started? You sure?

This has to be one of the most ignorant posts ever. You can blame Kiffin for Kiffin but to blame him for other coaches failure, that’s just asinine. The clear down fall of Jones was his failure to get proper coordinators and go away from his crazy cards during the games.

Nice try junior, but you are totally wrong. As seen in this search, the coach isn't the problem, they come and go. Look a little higher on the totem poll. That's where the problem is. But nice try.

Actually, not true. Please give a list of coaches that come and go IN January. I’ll give you a hint, the list can be counted on one hand.

lane was a high risk/high reward hire. Hamilton gambled. when you gamble, you don't always win. it's not Lane's fault. it's the decision makers that put us in the position to have that situation take place....whether you hire him at all, or you don't protect yourself on the back end with a buyout, or you don't vet properly...pick one.

and guess what....those same type of decisions that were made then....are being made now.

No, its because Hamilton did not negotiate a larger buyout for him because he was an unproven coach, hence why USC offered like they did. He was a bargain buy in a tough time for the trojans. Sure he hauled more @ss than a sorority bus when they offered. Was I pissed, yeah. Do I honestly blame him after getting a real job and realizing business is business... Not at all. Opportunities aren't always available and if it is your dream opportunity then hell go for it. If you fail, you fail, but at least you gave it a shot. Hamilton made the bad hire of Dooley, and Hart made the safe hire with Butch. After being in Management I understand you can't predict what is going to happen after you make hires, however, you can control the hire and that was negligence on the part of the Athletic Department.

First, he did inherit Fulmers guys, same guys that were in the SECCG two years earlier.

2 and 3 don’t even happen if no Lane, that isn’t hard to understand.

UT was Lanes first HC job at a college level. Coming after an abysmal stint with the Raiders. I’d say he made a good first season considering his record didn’t make a good first impression before he was hired.

Lane didn’t make Dooley refuse to recruit or Butch refuse to develop a competitive offense. Stop trying to cover up your grudge with BS

Blaming Kiffin for this train wreck is just dumb. I hope you're trolling and if not you're a moron.

There is no Dooley or Butch to hire if there never was a Kiffin. Understand now, no?

Those two are Not here without Kiffin putting those wheels in motion.

There would have been no Dooley had Hamilton not panicked when Kiffin left. Hammy should have let Kippy coach that year and did a proper search.

If Kiffin had left any other SEC school exactly like he did us and everything was the same, your knuckle dragging ass would be thrilled to have him.

With that kind of stupid logic, Oppenheimer is responsible for North Korea having Nukes.

No way do I agree with this. In 2008 Fulmer didnt exactly have the best recruiting class, nor did he hire the right staff. Which led to a disastrous 2008 season which unfortunately cost Fulmer his job. I am not saying Kiffin was a saint while he was here, the entire fan base was irate when he left in 2010. He was young and immature when he got to Knoxville but he is not the reason that UT football is where it stands today (over 7 years later) because of 12.5 months he spent here.

Feminine emotion has no place in business.

Write a proper contract and bring Lane back. You can win with him or get killed by him.

Wrong!

Different QB, different RB, different WR’s.

We’re hiring a football coach, not a preacher or mail-order bride. Let him come coach and p!ss off the rest of the SEC. if he p!sses on our leg again, it will wash off. If he doesn’t it could be something special.
The man can coach offense and the man can recruit.

If people could get over the past, I agree with this.

Nope. A nervous Mike Hamilton made the same mistake we're trying to prevent Currie into making.....which is rushing a bad hire

It’s not Lane’s fault he left? Ok

i mean, yeah, the physical part of leaving, yes, of course.

but that wasn't the start of the nearly decade long futility we've endured.

that goes directly to all these decision makers that keep allowing these same bone headed decisions to be made in the first place.

lane was a high risk hire. it was either going to be great, or a failure. it was never just going to be 'ok'. Hammy and haslam bet wrong. it was an epic failure.
