Volunteer TV just had a report that had CLK admitting that all of his comments in the off season were planned. It was to "deflect the attention from the players".

I know that this doesn't come as a surprise to many people, but I really thought it was just off the cuff comments. Does this make him smarter than many are giving him credit for or is it bogus and he is just covering his tracks after the fact?

I for one think that if it was planned, it was genious. It gave us a swagger that has been missing on Rocky Top for quite some time.

Damage control and nothing more.

It was a mixture of both. While I think he did plan many of the things he said, there were also some moments he probably would have wanted back. JMO

WOW... save some kool-aid for the rest of us.

I don't think each "comment" was specifically planned out, but I do think he saw opportunities and took them (either before or after the fact).

In any event, there are few coaches that would/could have achieved the positive results this program has seen since his hiring at UT.

Not intentional; anything more and you may be looking at potential cumulative major violations. Further...

September 5 cannot get here fast enough. Jiminy Christmas, enough already.

I was just trying to figure out the damage as well.......
The Pahokee comments nearly cost us access to that school. Next time, he may not be as lucky. The damage he also could have done was in PR. Those recruiting against him can always say that LK is a looe cannon and he will not be able to shake that anytime soon... unless we start winning games in short order.

So if he had come in and kept his mouth shut, we'd be where? The same place we were before he got here. He knew what he was doing.

What damage was there?

I won't hold my breath while you fail to come up with an answer.

Since you asked-Multiple recuting violations as well as repeatedly putting his foot in his mouth a few more times.

Since you asked- UT officials issued letters of admonishment to Kiffin and UT recruiting coordinator Ed Orgeron for a pair of secondary recruiting violations that occurred.

Kiffin went too far by describing an unsigned recruit's ability and using his name during a Knoxville radio show.

Mike Slive had publicly reprimanded Kiffin, advising him that the phone calls were not a violation and questioning the coach's knowledge of the rules after he accused Meyer of cheating.

Kiffin told a USC recurit that if he signed with South Carolina that he would end up pumping gas for the rest of his life like all the other South Carolina players.

...Not to mention the Pahokee issue.

Good enough? if not - Fire Lane Kiffin: Tennessee Self-Reports Recruiting Violations - Kiffin, Orgeron

And......we got a top 10 recruiting class.

The Meyer situation was obviously not planned and the USC comment will always be a mystery, but the Pahokee situation was a joke. That principal shouldn't have a job.

LOL, agenda much Two Bits?

OH no, secondary violations, what will we do with our program now? They're par for the course in college football, open your eyes and you may see it someday.

South Carolina comment was proven to be false, but you don't care to mention that.

And Pahokee... please reference Mark Richt and how the Georgia Bulldogs are no longer welcome in a high school IN THEIR OWN STATE. It's such a nonstory now, but keep grasping at straws.

I actually admire Kiffin's cockiness. Reminds me of a younger Spurrier. I just don't buy that his missteps were all by design.
