Lane on his QBs

I would rather not mention him but a guy who goes by the name of Tebow has demonstrated amazing leadership and motivational qualitys, same with Peyton Manning.

The point that is trying to be made is it is not the single deciding factor in evaluating a qb but it is something that shouldnt be over looked or played down. Teams need on the field leaders, which last year on offense seemed to be missing. Look at Eric Berry, he is an on the field leader, Al Wilson in the past, the defense has one, offense needs to establish one hopefully at QB.

the point?
Was implied by others that having a rocket arm and other intanglibles were all that mattered for qb's or teams success. Mike Vick was the most gifted qb I have seen and his lack of character, leadership was awful for the Falcons organization and they had some high quality players. Look at what Matt Ryan did.

Mike Vick was the least accurate passer to ever start at QB in the NFL. That alone undermines any point you're trying to make about talent.

By the by, his leadership was clearly a disaster and his inaccuracy a huge problem, but he seemed to do well in the playoffs. Wonder what gives?

Agreed. Crompton will emerge as the leader of the offense. I believe he was humbled last season after his lackluster play. Should play into his favor this year.

Funny that you say this when Vick's career completion percentage is better than about half of the QB's you guys listed earlier in your posts. I'll list some of the QB's that you all mentioned earlier and let you see how he compares.

Michael Vick 53.8%

Terry Bradshaw 51.9%

Jim Plunkett 52.5%

Eli Manning 55.9%

Bart Starr 57.4%

Jim McMahon 58.0%

Johnny Unitas 54.6%

I think it is safe to say that Vick is not the most inaccurate passer to ever start in the NFL. If you look at the numbers, all of these guys that were mentioned were pretty close to Vick in completion percentage with the highest one( McMahon) only beating him by about 4 % points and the entire fields average, excluding Vick, being at about 55%. Compared to Vicks 53.8%, the numbers are pretty much a wash. It's funny how everyone on that list is probably thought of as being much more accurate than Vick when in reality they are all pretty close and he is actually better than two of them.

Now take back the comment about Vick's accuracy undermining any point that this gentleman was trying to make about talent. These guys were the ones on this very thread too. Ha! Ha! That's funny.

Vick has lived in the era of untouched receivers. My guess is that his deviation from the mean is as large as anyone ever to be a regular.

Speaking of Quarterbacks,,, how about that Kenny Stabler? Kenny was a leader in off the feild activities. He is on the Abalama radio network staff so after the game he will be able to be found at a nearby bar washing away the bad taste in his mouth after the huge upset win we lay on the blama crowd.

Personally I hope all 3 qb's get better...I know they will......But as for choice of an offensive leader you won't find a better one than BJ Coleman....He is always focused ,well spoken and you can't get the boy to brag on himself ever...I covered him in Chattanooga during his high school years and interviewed him several times and even off camera he never takes credit for successes on the field it's always about his teammates...He's got a great head on his shoulders...The kid is like a sponge when it comes to football..He always has his learning cap on trying to get better in every aspect of the game.....I remeber his senior year when powerhouse Riverdale high school came to Chattanooga to play McCallie where Bj played and even though they were down by 2 scores with little time left in the 4th quarter he kept his composure and got the victory for his team...He always tried to boost his teams confidence when they were down and let them know too to never overlook any opponent.......I might be a little bit of a homer when it comes to BJ but if you ever get to see the kid in action you will understand what I am talking about...He's an awesome kid.....P.S. Never shake his hand cause he will crush the bones and not on purpose...
