i would be surprised only because i just can't get my head around us not having a hiccup or two along the way being that it's the 1st year and all.I don't expect 9 wins but it wouldn't be a huge shock if Tennessee did. We have a really weak schedule this year.
8-4 or 7-5 sounds about right.
I hope that coaching makes enough of a difference to push UT up to 9 or 10 wins without any blow outs. Next year will be very rough then I think UT can compete with UF, LSU, and Bama after that if the staff is as good as we hope.Just like the days of 30+ year coaches at a major program are over, the days of a major program allowing a 5 year window to get things going are also over.
And we are not really "a work in progress" or a "rebuilding project". We had a team that lost the mental game last season. We're a team with plenty of skill position talent (sans QB) and better-than-most talent across the roster.
We've got a rock star coaching staff that fully understands winning is everything - it is truly the only thing. If we go the next three years without being in the national mix, then I'd be surprised.
Kiffin like the Saban's and Meyer's of the world are "professionals" or "mercenaries" depending on your perspective. They will move to step up their careers or make more money. The caviat is that UT's pockets are as deep as anyone's if he is successful and likes living in K'ville. Also, CLK isn't universally popular at USC for some reason.
Santa is not real. And Kiffin is not a "great" coach or even a leader. These are facts.
These are not yet facts it is an opinion same as those who believe Kiffin to be great. Time will tell, until then don't confuse your opinion as fact.
Nobody wanted Kiffin. There is a reason no other schools were beating down his door.
And it is the same reason CLK is not popular at USC. The problem is many (at least on VN) have propagated the "myth" that Kiffin played a major role in the success of USC.
proven wrong many times yet you continue to post the same crap."
Pete Carroll disagrees with your "facts".
the fact you think this team is talented enough to win 9+ games this season speaks volumes about how seriously i should take your expectations.
name how many teams in the SEC we're better than at qb? and of those, are any of them named FLorida, LSU, GA, or Alabama?
at WR?
at OL?
at DL?
at RB?
at DB?
at LB?
at special teams?
the two positions where i think we would rank in the top 1/4 of the conf is DB and RB. after that........we're middle of the road or worse.
