Lane Kiffin's Hiring....The Process Revealed.

As opposed to guys like Bruce Feldman, who actually put their name on their work and have written bestsellers? Not so much. First, if it pertains to college football and doesn't come out of the south or the southwest, it doesn't matter. Second, he works for Yahoo! Sports, the National Enquirer of the Sports World.

and where does bruce feldman back up your statements?

CPF made his own bed not with the hire of Clawson but by not letting him bring in his own offensive staff. The hold over coaches (what I've heard) never bought into the new system and didn't know how to coach it. I also think CPF had too much say in the personel and play calling. He did the same with Randy Sanders. The only OC that has ever done well under CPF in DC.

I mean come on id DII players can pick up the system and do very well with it you can't say UT players couldn't, all they needed were coaches that new how to teach it.

Read Meat Market. See what it says about Orgeron's role in crafting SC's recruiting scheme. Also, Feldman probably never gave the Carroll/Chow thing much research. He covers real football. That means he doesn't often venture west of Big 12 country often.

Even though Carroll officially spends more time with the defense, he's always exerted control over the offense. Most famously, he said he revamped the offensive philosophy in the latter stages of the 2001 season and did not fully implement the changes he wanted until the start of the 2002 season.

i've read it. nowhere does it say he gave them "total autonomy."

There's a huge difference between telling your coordinator what system you want to run and meddling with his implementation thereof.

Bill Clonton never said "blowjob" in his sworn testimony. I guess the lack of those specific words means his impeachment for L'Affair Lewinsky was unjust.

Both points are absurd. Pissing off the bad guys is a good thing.

Let's hire Fulmer back so the other teams will love us and maybe have mercy on us? Maybe Urban will call off the dogs in the 3rd quarter so we will only lose by 20 if Phil is coaching us again. That's what you're saying?

Edit: meant that for who BPV was responding to.

how in the world could that not be considered meddling? and it's well known that carroll always has a hand in SCs offensive gameplan.

great way to change the subject.

great way to change the subject.
How is that changing the subject? You're the one acting as if magic words must be said to make something so. For example, by your logic, the fact Barak Obama has never said "I want to make America a mirror image of Western Europe's system of socialized democracy" means that it isn't happening.

as i lawyer i'm sure you are aware that there is a big difference between saying that kiffin and orgeron had a big say in recruiting to saying they had "total autonomy." and this isn't me arguing semantics. one statement says carroll trusted them, the other says basically carroll had nothing to do with it which is a ridiculous statement. if orgeron was that good paul hacket wouldn't have been fired. dont' make absolute statements and i wont ask for direct quotes.

Pete Carroll knew less about how to set up a recruiting plan when he arrived at SC than Barak Obama knows about how to run the auto industry. That's why he kept Orgeron. Ed took the model the staff at Miami had used and expanded it to a national scale. Carroll's input in that process was essentially just saying "That looks great. Let's go with it."

I just finished "On Rocky Top." Don't waste your time or money on it. All the really good parts can be read in the link of the first post in this thread. There are some interesting parts but they are few and far in between. It's mostly the diary of an avid, sometimes drunk, "no football knowledge" UT fan. If you want to know more about Clay Travis or his journey as a UT fan, then you will enjoy it. If you want to know anything about the X's and O's of the season, then don't waste your time.
