What's wrong with being a hillbilly? I love the fact that I was privileged to be born and raised in the beautiful hills of East Tennessee and therefore a hillbilly.

That makes beating uppity liberals (ex. California) even more satisfying because they think that we are below them.

Embrace your heritage and be proud of it.

Our definitions of "ignorant hillbilly" may be different. Anybody who thinks it's funny, cool, awesome, etc. to send someone (or their family) death threats are people that I would put into this category. There are plenty of people in East TN and Western Carolinas that are not hillbillies.

I don't think that you'd want to be included in my definition of hillbilly unless you thought this was funny... in which case, I would feel sorry for you.

Also, not everyone in California is an "uppity liberal" ... just like not everyone in TN is a "hillbilly."

I have seen a couple of UT fans at the games (you know, the kind that have empty seats around them) more than once. I could see them sending threatening emails. I say to this thread though, "Lane Who"?

Unless you are THE Webster, you don't determine the definition of words.

If you were born and raised in Appalachia you are a hillbilly. Hillbilly is only a derogatory term to insecure liberal idiots. And yes, you are correct, not everyone living in East Tennessee is a hillbilly. We do have some of those uppity liberals from up North and California who take advantage of our beautiful home.

Lane Kiffin is a liar and his claim of death threats is heaped on the giant pile of all of his other lies. Someone sending an anonymous message is not a serious death threat.

A true death threat is from someone who identifies their person and their reason.

Hey if you dont know what Lane is about now then you never will. I guess everyone should have listen to Al Davis when he said all that. Lane said when he told Monte that they were going to USC he said Monte said where is the plane. I seen on another site Monte told Lane he should stay at Tenn for awhile. So you take Lane as is. I think it was stupid that people actually made death threats to him, and there is no excuse for folks to do anything like that, but let's not get too sympathetic towards Kiffin here.

Kiffin's self-proclaimed 'victimization' reminds me of the Tiger Woods incident. It is a lot like when that ex-porn star (one of his many mistresses) that came out after Tiger's press conference the other day and declared herself a victim. I saw her lawyer on the news and when the interviewer asked why this woman should be considered a victim when she was well aware that she was having sex with a married man and, thereby, helping to ruin a family, there was no legitimate answer . . . only a lot of lawyerly 'spin' meant to gain sympathy from the audience. How anyone could feel sorry for this piece of garbage is beyond me.

This guy (Kiffin) came in here, lied his butt off, and defiled the program that we all love with all our hearts. His idiotic statements and childish actions brought dishonor on the Big Orange Nation. When you invite someone into your house and they proceed to take a giant crap on everything that you hold dear, it is natural to get a bit angry. Of course, none of this justified death threats, but Kiffin is NOT a victim here. He is dishonest scum that I wouldn't walk across the street to take a pee on him if he was lying, passed-out on the sidewalk. Now, let's stop talking about him (unless it is to celebrate every loss that USC has while he is coach).

If he is telling the truth,then I don't like this at all.Yeah he left us and that made us all mad,but to threaten his life and his families life is way out of line.

lol. +1. While I agree that we do speak quite differently, American English is identical to British English in terms of grammar/syntax. The only real differences lie in vocabulary and semantics. Sorry, I had to. :p BTW, you're right, the differences in vocabulary and semantics are many. ATTN MODS please move to the language arts forum.

Isn't this part of the point? The fact that we have to even ask whether or not he is lying shows just how much of a scum-bag this guy is. Again, I think that the death threats (if true) are stupid and inexcusable, but the question about the truthfulness of Kiffin's claims speaks volumes.
