Lane Kiffin on Tony Basilio

It's funny how Basilio and every other media person on the UT beat has blasted Crompton for his play this spring, yet if you read the KNS he's already locked down the position.

Interesting recruiting stuff on his blog as well.

Who wouldnt blast Crompton he is an easy target after last season, I am hoping that he can turn it around though. If not hopefully one of the other guys will step it up.

Why does everyone seem to be pulling for Crompton to be the starter? No matter how many times he screws up, people still talk about him like it's his job to lose.
Coleman had a good scrimmage. He showed potential last season. Why not just work with him a little and give him a real chance at winning the job?

he has a real chance and the coaches are giving it to all 3. crompton is just "practicing" the best this spring.

i do not want crompton starting this fall but if he wins the job i will be behind him... but to me i think stephens showed last yr he could get the done just needs a bit of coaching... crompton as terrible last yr at just the basics handing off throwing the ball in the dirt and into the d linemen arms

sthepens is not a kiffin style qb he would have fit in better in a texas tech style offense. imo i dont think stephens will ever have chance to start under kiffin. next year it will be between coleman and hopefully heaps.

I'd guess the reasoning is that if Coleman is not clearly better than Crompton then start Crompton to clear the position for recruitment purposes. Coleman and/or Stephens would then be in a position to battle the recruit in 2010 for starting QB.

I think you have to be on the KNS payroll to link a blog outside of Volnation. Google it.
