Bama can do much more than we can on homegrown talent, and ND automatically draws Catholic athletes from all over the nation. Both are powerful programs based on tradition and draw high school kids with that as well. We are talking about the two most successful programs in the nation as far as national titles. Tennessee is just not on that level right now.
Bama has claimed like 100 national titles, and about 7 of them are actually legit. They're ahead of us, but not that far ahead of us. They are first in pretty much every SEC category, but we are second. On a scale of 1-10, I wouldn't put Bama's home grown talent at any higher than a 6. That's still quite a bit of out of state recruiting you gotta do, and coaches don't choose where they want to go based upon history alone, and considering both of us have great history's, the gap between the two choices probably wouldn't be that big.
As for Notre Dame, I just don't think that job is near the profile that it once was. They haven't won since 1988 and rarely do they win BCS bowls anymore. Plus, the expectations there are just ridiculously high.
These schools might be above us, but i'd still put them in that same 2nd tier area that we're at.
About 4
Off what? How do you calculate four? By my calculations they have 6. ESPN and other organizations say 8.

1. USC wasn't Kiffin's school; he coached there a few years...that's it. He didn't grow up there, his family isn't from there, he didn't play there, and he didn't even go to school there.
2. USC's job isn't necessarily better; what it is is a heck of a lot easier. Easier to recruit; easier to pile up wins; easier to get conference titles; easier to get to BCS bowl games; easier to get to national titles; easier scrutiny from fans; easier scrutiny from the press; and far less work to do -- less traveling, less baby-kissing, less politicking. That doesn't make it better, unless better is only defined by easier. The better competition is in the SEC; the better fans are in the SEC; the better football is in the SEC. The PAC-10 is where pansies go to coach as their "dream job."
You're giving the students more credit than they deserve in the IQ department. They were storming the athletic center before the presser ever started.
usc a better job?Lets see, facilities?NO. money? NO. conference?yes if your a p***y and dont want to play anyone. instate talent?yes. The ability to not play anyone until a bowl game?yes.I guess its all in the eyes of the beholder,to me its not a better job,but hey,Im a homer.
