It always amazes me to how some Vol fans will sell there soul and stain this storied program by bringing in someone like Kiffin again. You think we are getting laughed at now. We would be a joke for many years. The means do not justify the ends.

We would not be winless in conference. We are already a joke because of hiring losers like Dooley and Jones.

yeah, i think perception wise, people outside Knoxville could definitely wrap their head around Kiffin being hired. moreso this time, than last time actually.

the perception issue would be a lot closer to home.

Please point to the coaches that leave after bowl season and work out a 2 week notice. It is such a dumb question. Good grief it is stupid. It's like some of you have never watched sports.

Hey, Charlie Brown. I get it. Coaches leave jobs for different jobs all of the time. This usually happens before January 13, the date LK left. Remember we had a hard time finding a quality coach, hence the DD hire? It's because it was so late in the year respectable coaches wouldn't leave their schools high and dry. He screwed us, plain and simple. I get it. It was his dream job. However, he conducted himself like a complete jerk with no regard for our recruiting class, players, or fans. So, no, that situation doesn't happen all the time.

Oh wait, I forgot that you pointed out how much smarter you are than I am because I apparently don't watch football.

Terrible HC? The record he is posting at FAU says you don't know what you are talking about.

I think hiring the head coach of FAU is a bad plan. For example let's say it was someone besides LK coaching them. You would scream bloody murder if we hired the FAU head coach with a 7-3 record.
What we know is that he can go 7-3 in a **** conference.

Didn't Kiffin send Tahj Boyd and Bryce Petty packing when he first arrived? We went with Crompton instead.

The change in environment at TN could've gotten far worse had Kiffin stayed. Kiffin brought in guys like future penal system starters Nu'Keese Richardson and Janzen Jackson. Heck, from what I've read on Jackson, he was a pretty clean kid prior to arriving in Kiffin's world.

Kiffin has a lot of flash, and like many here I'm attracted to that, but experience says it's not a flash you want for your program. It's the kind that draws the NCAA's eye as well.

I would like the imaginary Kiffin that has been whitewashed. However, I don't want the real Kiffin back in Knoxville.

Anyone that wants Kiffin back has serious mental issues.
He bolted on us in the middle of the night, got fired on a tarmac by USC, and doesn't have a winning record as a head coach.
Oh, by the way, didn't he leave us with some NCAA violations?

As a college head coach he is 42-24 and never had a losing record, even when he got fired from USC

I'll take the heat for saying this, but he is tremendous offensive mind. Wouldn't be the worst hire (or re-hire?).

I know I never post on here but I read almost everything every day and have been a member since 2009. I know I am going to get slammed for this and I thought I would never say this myself but Kiffin may be the best coach for the job at Tennessee! Notice I said coach! He is brash and confident or cocky pending on how you look at it. However, I think that can be good this day and time and most of the kids these days like that. So he may not be the person you want to hang out with or be best friends! But he can win at Tennessee! Look what he did with Jonathan Crompton in one season, that was a miracle itself! Read this article below objectively and tell me that is not the kind of coach you want on the sideline! We have all done stupid things and Kiffin has admitted the way he left UT was crazy. We need to let the past stay in the past and make our best choice for our new coach no matter what! #BringBackLaneKIffinToTennessee

I just don’t see why people would even think he is an option. I don’t think somethings should be forgiven. Just hope Florida doesn’t get him

Ten reasons not to:

1-10: He bolted on Tennessee before, left us, why would anyone think he wouldn't do it again and why would anyone think we should pay him to give him a second chance. No no no. It's not the same as Fulmer who we fired. Lane left us without remorse. Blah.

I can't lie there is a small part of me that would like to see him back. I have to admit the 2009 season was wild crazy fun. That being said he humiliated our program leaving the way he did. I understand it was his dream job but his impulsiveness and lack of maturity proved to me that I could never bring myself to trust him again. I wish him nothing but success but he should never be given the keys to UT again.

Exactly, it doesn't matter what his intentions were. He dropped us without a second thought. He whether intentionally or not turned us into the joke of CFB. He says he regrets it now and that's awesome. He paid dearly for his impulsive behavior. I wish him success but he should never get a chance to humiliate my program again. Fool me once = lesson learned.

Wasnt it fun how he got under Urbans skin? imagine what he would do to Saban. It will never happen, but we will wish one day it did if he ends up in the SEC. Football was fun, Plus it was reported he told Mike H that that would be the only reason he would leave before accepting the job. right? I think I remember that ?

I'm basically in the same boat as you. I've been a member for years and read a lot on this site but post very little. I agree with your post. I would prefer Kiffen over most candidates mentioned. Personally, I don't think he will be offered the job, but it would not bother me if he was our next coach.
