Hypothetical Situation.

You're John Currie, and after a more than disappointing season, you are looking for a new football coach.

You want someone who can recruit AND win championships.

You go after several top candidates such as Gruden, Kelly, Patterson, Frost... every home run and hot candidate out there. Nobody bites.

You are left scrambling for a coach not on your top candidates list. You get to interviewing second tier candidates and you realize none of these guys would seem to give you that juice you need to go to the next level.

So here's the question: if If IF this were to happen, and IF he agreed to apologize in the press conference, would you take Lane KIffin back? Yes or no, and why or why not?

I'll say it, chances of Kiffin coming back to Knoxville as the next head coach are almost zero.

I would consider Kiffin before it gets to "scramble" time. He doesn't need to make a big deal out of apologizing.

The only thing that's changed with Kiffen is hat size and waist size. That dude looks like a fat drunk now. You would think the dude would get his crap together inspite of his ex-wife and to give the middle finger to Saban. Yeah yeah dudes rich so he's better than his criticizers yada yada before you jokers say it.

Who's Kiffen?

He should be way down the list IMO. There are probably a dozen or more realistic candidates I would rather have. Not because of how he left us but because of his lack of success as a head coach. What has he proven? He had one ten win season at USC with a roster of Pete Carrol's recruits including Matt Barkley, Robert Woods, Marqise Lee. His next best season is 8-5. Oakland was a disaster. He went 7-6 here with a pretty talented roster, and things got ugly at USC. He's currently 3-3 at FAU, although I don't know much about their program. He's a good developer of quarterbacks and a pretty good play caller, but I think he's probably a little overrated when it come to that as well. A decent offensive coordinator will look exceptional running Alabama's offense.

No!!! Even if he had success he would never stay here, within 5 years he would move on.

I think the big thing that is being overlooked here is, look at Alabama this year. He is not their offense of coordinator and they seem to be moving the ball at will without him. So I don't think we can say he is just this great offense of Coach. Yes he has looked good in the past, but I don't know that we know enough to say that he is going to solve all the woes at Tennessee.

Exactly how I feel about it. I think he'd stay if he got the job, I just think there are several better options.

Kiffin can coach an offense, but he made it clear the last time that he's just a mercenary, out for himself only, and just stepping on whoever he needs to as he moves on his way to other places. So, no.

I think he's a much better fit than Chip Kelly. Kiffin knows what it takes to win in the SEC and knows how important recruiting is. Chip Kelly has already stated that he hated recruiting. Tennessee is a school where being a good recruiter is key. It's much more likely that Brohm and Neal Brown (Troy) are the kind of candidates we look at. Would you rather have Brown or Kiffin?

All emotions aside and my girlfriend dumped me syndrome passed, why not? When I first heard this, I said heck no that dude burned all his bridges and doesn’t deserve to be at UT. Then I look at Butch Jones. Then I look at how 90% of the names named here are off the table. Then I think hmmmmm, maybe just maybe

You don't have to worry about Patrino OR Kiffin. There is this thing called title 9. Anyone who has ever even looked at a women will not be touched with even a 50 meter pole. They will be lucky to cross the Tennessee boarder without being arrested. This is 2017, SEX is illegal now. Nothing to see here.

Don't make things up. If you knew you'd get a /minimum/ of five years with Kiffin, would you take him? I would. When Kiffin coached the Raiders, he was way too young for that job--he should never have been hired by Davis in the first place. That was on Davis. USC, when he was there, had lost a significant number of scholarships owing to the violations involving Reggie Bush, as I recall. Plus, athletic director Hayden had not hired him. You offer him a contract that includes a BIG payment by Kiffin to the school should he decided to leave early again. Kiffin would definitely be in my top 5. I'd hire him before I hired a coordinator, that's for sure.

If everybody else turns us down then yeah, go rehire him...Wouldn't have anything to lose at that point...Better than taking a chance on some guy who has never been a head coach.

Witch Doctor think if Butch fails ( I really dont think they will fire him end of this season..period) But if they do this or end of next season.

Witch Doctor spoke with a friend over the summer who made a comment about "Kiffin in the wings" since Currie returned. Now others are hearing the same chatter.

What if? With Doctor say forget he left (he told Hamilton the only job he would leave for before he was hired)

Witch Doctor say besides personal feelings, what could he do if given the second chance?
