Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

yes.

1. Young
2. good offensive mind
3. great recruiter
4. pipe line to California recruits
5. could put a solid coaching staff together

I like #'s 2 & 4 a lot! and as for #5 if he keeps the defensive staff intact; it makes #2 even more important.

I am not going to judge him on his PRO experience.

Look at coaches like Spurrier and Saban... couldn't we say thay they were flops? But we all know that ownership and bureaucracy had more to do with their coaching ability in the NFL.

The difference is that Spurrier & Saban get a pass because they already proved themselves collegiately. Kiffin has not in my opinion.

USC made huge strides once Kiffin jumped on board but was it because of the wide receivers or the qb's?

I mean lets face it palmer & leinart back to back is nice to work with.

Too bad we didn't keep fulmer and hire Kififn as offensive coordinator :(
He might have been the highest paid coordinator in the league but who cares now.

If it is Lane, he's going to be working his butt off. If he bombs here, he's probably done as a HC for a long time, this in itself is going to motivate him to "work like heck" (sorry, couldn't resist :))

Did we learn anything about Kiffin while he was in Oakland?

no, except the definition of insanity still applies in the Bay.

A head coach with no say in player personal will never succeed in the modern game. No matter who Al Davis tries to rotate into the HC seat.

You really think he can win in the SEC? I don't. All the money, all the tradition, an this is what UT can get. I hope this is a freaking joke.
