Lane Kiffin (Head football coach of the University of Tennessee)

No... I say that he will do considerably better in college than in the NFL. I'm sure those three coaches you listed would agree.
He's going in reverse order. How are his recruiting skills, especially at a school with little to no in state talent? Pay attention to the flow chart... :p

he's number one on my list...too bad nobody important cares about my list.

if we don't get him (which we probably won't), I would like to get someone like him...with big time college experience, and a lot of enthusiasm. Will Muschamp hasn't been a HC, but I think he will be a great one soon. should we take a chance on him?? maybe!

There are some good candidates out there to include Kiffin. I rely on reading opinions of knowledgeable members regarding some of these picks. But it will also come down to timing. If CPF soap opera goes on as long as it took Susan Lucci to win an award then we're going to lose.

I wouldn't hold his record against, he was coaching maybe the worst franchise in the NFL right now with the most paranoid owner.

Pete Carrol and Spurrier were both crappy NFL coaches but excel in college. I like young energetic coaches.

i was watching jim rome today and i was really surprised when someone in "the forum" was talking about Lane Kiffin and just happened to mention the rumors about Kiffin going to Tennessee. IMO i think that if we can get Kiffin it would be best case scenario. He was an outstanding recruiter at USC and is a great, young offensive mind...

your thoughts??????

If your gonna go after somebody from the NFL,go for John Gruden for crying out loud.He would be a great hire for Tennessee

I firmly believe that Kiffin will be the new head coach at the University of Washington after they fire Willingham. He's got ties to U of Washington, and that program has had some national success in the last 15 years.

If we fire Fulmer and offer him $3-4 million/year, I'd probably think he'd choose us.

yes it would be ok,if he came here, because kids that see nfl type coaches as head coaches and the coaches come to there house to talk and recruit them,i think the kids would wann play for a head coach that was in the nfl.

I'd say coaching an NFL team is good experience.

Anyone think of him as Fulmer's replacement? He's a young, firey guy who did a lot of recruiting at USC. He's probably not going to get offered another NFL job anytime soon. Do you think he'd be a good fit at Tennessee?

Yeah I think he would be good, but he's not my favorite choice. But hey no one could do worse than Fulmer.

I really wonder what was going on behind the scenes with the Raiders, I know Al Davis is a whack job, but it waves a red flag. I'm not familiar with the rest of his resume. If you want to compete with USC, BAMA, FLA, LSU...seems like you need to go after a proven winner, jmo.

I'd like to go with Kiffin, Brian Kelly, or even Will Muschamp...although I don't even expect us to contact either of those coaches. We'll probably go with Cut or Jim Grobe (if he'd even leave WF).

How about Norm Chow?
The story on him is that he's a great football mind but his personality has held him back. He just doesn't interview very well and Athletic Director's just can't envision making him the face of a program.

I really wonder if we'd look at somebody Grobe's age?
