Lance Thompson article

I have always thought Dooley was a great coach for us at Tennessee. This thing with Thompson tells me Dooley must have a problem with his assistants. There must be some communication problem we are not aware of. Thompson has to be a great coach for Saban to take him back and make him DC, we needed Thompson's input we should have kept him. I'm afraid there is a problem there. I sure hope not I just think Dooley is the greatest. All I thought was, Dooley needs is a good set of assistant coaches around him. Well he had one for sure that got away. I do not think swaping coaches with Alabama will fix the problem.

Saban is not hiring LT to become the DC. Kirby Smart holds that position. IIRC, someone else stated LT was taking a position of OLB coach.

A lateral move. Probably. A more stable environment. Yes.

Or maybe Dooley just needs to get his own guys in here. Lance was a holdover from Kiffen.

Let's see. He leaves Alabama for Tennessee because he bought into the Kiffin fad and then has no opportunity to leave when Kiffin bolts. Suddenly he is part of a true rebuilding effort, so he hitches up his pants and works his tail off because he is a true professional.

Meanwhile, back in Tuscaloosa they win a couple of National Championships with his recruits while he works in relative obscurity in a program that goes 5-7. At the end of the season his old job opens up back in Alabama and we all need to make up a bunch of stories why he goes back?

Saban doesn't think he's good enough to be DC at Alabama, so why should Dooley think he's good enough to be DC at Tennessee?

Hate to lose CLT but can't wait to see who his replacement will be. Heard some good names. I'm hoping for Hobby :crossfingers:

Since I don't keep track of specifically what assistant coach landed what recruit, I have an honest question. Did he produce a comparable level of recruiting results at UT as what this article claims he did at Bama?

:dunno:

Disappointed we lost Thompson. Hopefully Dooley will find a comparable (or better) replacement.
