His entire body of work is impressive. He’s a winner regardless of your modifiers.......,....

Modifiers?? I don't give a shat about div 2... Are we div 2? I'm undefeated as a midget football coach, you think I'd be a good fit to be the next head coach at UT? I am undefeated..

call me cornbread, but 62 year old Jeff Fischer would be much better than 56 year old Lance Leipold. Their head coaching winning percentage is basically the same. One's record was in the NFL, with the other's in the mid-american conference...
Jeff Fishers 51%
Lance Leipold 80%

how is that basically the same?

I grew up in the 70's...That's exactly the first thing I think of upon hearing the name "Leipold". You are obviously a cultured individual!
My kids can’t understand how I can pretty much predict every upcoming line in Looney Tunes

I think he was mentioned in an earlier thread about possible coaches and there were the obligatory, very clever and unique “Who?” posts. Also, he was called a Google coach so he should not even be a thought for our dumpster fire if a program. I wonder if the sentiment toward him will change since the savior of The Hill, Danny White was hired as AD. I am not knocking Danny White’s hire by any means as I think it is a very good hire. I am knocking the idiots who reply with “Who” and “Google” coach anytime a coach not named Neyland, Gruden, Urban or Freeze are mentioned.
That would be correct. I started an earlier thread about LL and that’s most of the comments “who?” Google coach and so forth

LL can only play the teams and beat the teams that are on his schedule. Can’t blame him for that. But being successful in each division and league means something.

Not Chadwell and his triple option based O.
So...are we to believe a good coach can only grasp and run one offense? Ever? Or perhaps can they adjust, retool, and adapt to different teams and circumstances.

I submit a coach that cannot change in response to the situation he finds himself in won't be a coach long.

Who's to say his offense won't match are personnel? He runs a spread option with very slick run-pass reads. It is not your traditional Navy Option game.

I have no idea what direction we are going to head on a coach. And while I have made my choice for Herman, I really don’t know what I’m even expecting. But I do think the president an AD need a big pair to talk a big game and follow that up with hiring this guy. He may turn out to make Urban Meyer look like Pruitt, and I wish him all the best in that endeavor. He is certainly a very good coach, and he would have been considered as close to a home run as we were going to get for our last 4(?) hires. But this move has to be bigger than plucking another small time guy. I just don’t see them doing it. They can’t do that for this hire.

My High School coach installed an entirely new offense mid season due to some key injuries. You have to adapt. During a bye week.

His record speaks for itself. Also. If this guy is recruiting kids from all over the country. Including deep south to come play ball in frigid Buffalo for 4 years. Then he can also recruit like crazy!
