Lamiason Signing Reports Are Premature

He's a vol...he can't sign anything right now, and he's still got to wait for his grade for one class to come in. He didn't want the school to announce this today, he's been trying to lay low, get his stuff done.

He can't sign a LOI because that date has passed. He will be a Vol though, just awaiting one more class.

Okay. I didn't know why they would say that. I have just assumed for a few months he will be a Vol.

As has been repeated ad infinitum, he has not "signed" and will never be "signed." He will just show up on campus in a couple of weeks. He will still be a Vol in '09.

Source? Was not aware that Scroggins was visiting this weekend. Can only be good I hope.

There is a poster who claims to have inside information in the Scroggins thread of the Recruiting forum. This poster claims that Scroggins and Bailey will visit this weekend.

No confirmation at this time from any other sources.

Poor Larry. As I said in Lamaison's thread, the explanation that Nick will never ever have to sign any sort of LOI, form, or "commitment papers" as some have termed it has only been expressed about a trillion times now. There are no "premature" signing reports. He's just finishing up his classwork and will show up as a student athlete on campus in the next couple of weeks after everything gets finished up.

The only thing false about the Lamaison story is that he has signed a LOI, which he will not be doing. His coach would not have said everything that he did if he wasn't UT bound.

“We will truly miss Nick, however we are excited for him and his opportunity to play and challenge for the starting job at Tennessee,” offensive coordinator Tom Craft was quoted as saying on athletics.mtsac.edu before the story was removed. “Had he stayed for another season with us, he would have challenged many of the all-time community college records.”

I would imagine that it would be a lot closer to

Crompton
Stephens
...
Lamaison
...
...
Rozier

No way. It just flat out takes time to absorb the sheer volume of plays and variations, and when you do, then you have to spend loads of reps trying to get on the same page as the receivers and other players. Plus, it's very likely that both Crompton and Stephens will be better this year. Having that loaded backfield will give them more confidence and take a lot off their shoulders.
Lamaison might get some field time later in the year, but until he has time to get acclimated to the playbook and the system, he's well behind Stephens and Crompton.

FWIW...Rozier shouldn't even be mentioned in the mix. It's VERY, VERY likely that he never see's the field. He's been out of football for so long, and was not a highly rated guy in HS...and that's precisely why he's not on scholarship, but a walk-on. He has about as much chance to play as JB Cooter did.

So, today's news is that yesterday's news really wasn't news, yet we already knew the gist of yesterday's news a month ago.

What's that saying about being the tallest midget?

"I don't know what is up. That has never happened to me before"

You've got to distract yourself by thinking about sports...oh, wait. I guess that wouldn't work in this case.

I agree. This is much more accurate. Honestly, even though I believe Crompton will be the starter for the WKU game, I really don't think there is that much separating him and Stephens.

Lamaison will be a distant 3rd and Rozier a distant, distant, distant 4th. JMO.....

Lamaison would be for next year right?
