Nice to see you on the nation Grandpa Lamaison

Just win Baby! Go Vols

"Both Crompton and Stephans have had a chance to go over this systems in the spring. Nicholas is just getting his first taste of it. I wouldn't make any snap judgements in the first few days. Realistically unless Crompton and Stephans fall on their face. Nicholas will probably redshirt and have 3 years of eligibility left to have a really good run at it next year. Although I think Lamaison is better then those 2. He's won almost everyway he's went. His success in JUCO is well documented but he even won a championship in popwarner for the West Covina Bruins and got to meet the Mayor of the city.

There's probably not a lot of difference in all of their arms. Where Lanaison excells is his leadership and his ability to read defenses and go through his progressions refusing to force the football, but checks down to the next receiver in the progression. This evedent when you look at his stats and watching him play. Almost 3500 yrds 36 touchdown and only 8 ints.

Forget his height. He patterns his game afer Drew Brees. He makes good decisions with the football he doeesn't turn it over. He makes all the throws has a quick release. Never stares down a receiver prides himself on looking off the safeties. Tennessee's lucky to have him. He wasn't sure he was going to be eligible for the SEC academically so his tape was released late and most didn't know he was available. Credit Lane Kiffin with his aggressive recruiting to go to other states and grab kids to go to Knoxville. Lane's value is already becoming evident and he and Nicholas Lamaison will do big things at Tenneessee. Volnation should be thrilled I know I am"

It doesnt matter who starts. If they come out in the first game as the starter and throw a bunch of picks or cant hit a WR to save their life Kiff will make a change and make no mistake about it. By saying he wants one QB he doesnt mean that he wont make a change if need be.

I honestly think that by the end of practice, it will be between Stephens and LaMaison. Stephens has no excuse not to know the system. Everyone remember the article in the spring that said "it's been an advantage for me not to be practicing, because I've learned the system even better. Every day I've got my nose in the playbook." Everyone remember that? And it may be true. Maybe he DOES know the system....but KNOWING it and DOING it are two different things. I think that LaMaison knows the opportunity he has here. He was apparently scrubbed coming out of high school, so he went the JUCO route, and now he has the opportunity to go from one year of JUCO to a team in the best conference in the country. I know he'll work his tail off.

I can't predict how it's going to be, but if Stephens ends up with the starting job, which I think he will, I don't know if Crompton will be his back up or not.

Something someone said earlier got me thinking....what IF we put another lineman in at QB? Do a direct snap to the RB, and then just tell the QB to lay someone out?

With as many RB's as we have, we could totally do some crazy stuff.

I taught him the game. It's in his blood. He inherited my arm, but is now taking his game to another level. Of course I went to his games

I hope you are right and all, but with all due respect you're clearly very biased towards your son.

Awesome. Welcome aboard. Nick looks pretty gritty and tough, is that true? :hi:

Nicholas is a very firey but poised leader. He doesn't get frustrated. He doesn't yell and scream at other players. He takes his part of blame in plays that fail regardless. He's the calming confident voice who takes charge in the huddle when it's all on the line and then gets it done.

His teammates have always loved him. Everyone comes up with some BS about what makes a good leader. It's really quite simply to determine a good leader. When he turns around and sees how many have followed him. Since he was 9yrs old he's been a qb and they have always followed him. too give you some idea of his toughness. In popwarner he went both ways, as a qb and a Defensive End, Rushing the passer and blowing up fullbacks to stuff the run.

If I'm going into Battle I'll take Nicholas

Exactly

People keep making it sound like whoever starts the first game is the only one who will see the field this year regardless of what happens. Kiffin will make a change at any point in the season if needed, although he would obviously rather not have to.

I wouldn't expect to see Nicholas up to speed until mid season, so it really depends on how well Stephans and or Crompton are playing as to whether he sees the field or not. If he sees the field, no it most likely means the season is about evaluating talent to lead them in the following year and on into the future.
