That’s fantastic news, and not the least bit surprising to me.
As soon as Kellie was hired and began her extremely popular introduction tour, it was obvious that fans were excited about not only the opportunity for the program to re-start, but also their hearts. The years of grieving were relentlessly painful. First for Pat’s illness, then her tragic death. Then there was the ugly end to Pat’s beloved son’s marriage and coaching career. Next was the slow, painful death of Holly’s career amid constant turmoil and the falling of dozens of positive Lady Vol records while making dozens of negative ones.
The toll that all the grief has taken has been heavy, to be certain. But I have felt from Day 1 that Kellie’s energy was exactly what we all needed to give us emotional permission to finally begin to move on, to put the pain behind us and stop focusing less on what we’ve lost and more on what fun we could still have being fans again if we want to.
