I Will be excited to see the improvements this year. A positive attitude will go a long way, they got so down on themselves it really messed with their confidence, which i think played a role in the made shots percentage

Thanks for sharing, this was written July 2016 though, so the info on players being hurt is not new (for those who are reading it thinking it's new info on injuries)

500 shots is good if you are unguarded 500 times. As a techniques coach I would have had her shoot five different 100-shot situational-variations (e.g...Shooting off a curl with a hand ready to be in her face,,,Shooting off the reception with a defender closing in on her with hands up,,,Touch shooting,,,etc.)...This would make her 500 shots more efficient in purpose as they would be in-game type situations she was shooting in.

I do applaud her ambition, just wish it was more directed.

Making 500 shots is excellent for muscle memory
But
they have to be "in game" type drills to truly benefit her.

"I can stand out here at (age) 56 and spot shoot," Lockwood said. "I'm not saying that's not valuable but if that's all you're doing, you're not getting the job done. You've got to prepare yourself to play a game and perform in a game."......a quote from Lockwood, I'm sure he's had them doing the same thing you've suggested.

They couldn't even hit open threes, let alone defended ones. At least Jaime is acknowledging her need to become a better overall perimeter shooter. There have been plenty of players that developed the outside shot later in their college career. If opponents know that she can hit the open three, then it will open things up for the post game.

Good to hear and more positive than last year's team building exercise with the Navy Seals...did anyone see the photos last year of Navy Seal training exercise ? Every member looked like they had just eaten a green persimmon.Having gone thru Army Ranger School myself,I could understand the stress they were put under but there should have been some fun mixed in as well .The long and short of this litany was that team building exercise was not a success so maybe this approach will be better toward building individual skills hence lead into better team chemistry .....let's hope so.

Agreed. The team-building exercise last season I thought was a waste of time. Basketball players get better by playing basketball, not by swimming, climbing rope, or lifting 50-pound sand bags and carrying them around.

In the summer time, most of the workouts are voluntary.

I think that would be a great question 4 Dunbar?

Dunbar spent last summer working out on her own because she was at an internship. This summer was the first she has had to voluntarily workout among teammates and Tennessee facilities. I look forward to seeing what her game looks like this year. She is going to see the court a lot this year.

If the majority of fans have their way Kortney would be playing 30 minutes a game. No offense to her, but unless she got a DNA-infusion and can somehow now move significantly better laterally and backwards than she has to date shown, my guess is she'll get no more than 10 minutes a game and less than that against the better teams on the schedule. If other players go down with injury, this could change since the bench is so short.

One thing in her favor is the early season soft schedule. She needs to show very quickly against JMU, Navy, and ETSU that she can be a factor.
