Oh yes she has never proved to me she is a 3-6 hitter since day one! lived on reputation for the first 3 years. For a catcher she should have a better eye at the plate but she does not. Swings at high pitches always. Love her though!Another reason to leave her there. She has to prove herself against better pitching.

Where teams are picked and where they finish are usually much different. We've seen that happen a lot lately in a lot of sports. That's why I originally said they were a good team. I looked em up before game and saw they only had 2 losses...so I assumed they were pretty good. I was not aware they were picked to be near last in conference.
I dont remember the last good base running team ! Our weak link is the same since A. leach graduated. Another weakness i have noticed is Ally seldom throws out a runner stealing. She has to throw from her knees and it could go anywhere. JMHO as always. We have moved up some in both polls. Reflecting on where we are getting ready to start real SEC play: Megan has our pitchers throwing strikes and attacking the strike zone. Yes Ashley is back but we are overall improved. Hitting is improved. Our biggest improvement is on the defense (we see you Miss Davis). Still troubling at times is baserunning, we steal bases well, but our decisions on the base paths is still lacking at times. We are getting ready to start BIG girl softball over the next few weeks but I like where we are and lets go play the games!
Not many have tried to this point, LSU will run if they get on with the right people.I dont remember the last good base running team ! Our weak link is the same since A. leach graduated. She may not end up as good as Madison, but Madison in four healthy seasons was one of the three best position players in Tennessee history. So holding her to that standard to measure her success is just silly.
I agree with the premise of what you're saying, but Madison she wasn't healthy her first year. She had a shoulder issue all season and had surgery on it in the offseason. She had a subpar season both at the plate and in the field her first season.
Point taken!Fair enough, Madison hit .292 with 5 homers, 8 doubles and 27 RBI in 58 games in 2011 before having her shoulder rebuilt in that offseason.
So in that light, Ally's freshman year of .328, 3 homers, 5 doubles and 20 RBI in only 22 games was actually better than Madison's, if we're going to get into the comparison business. If you extrapolate out those per game averages over 58 games, she would have projected to about 8 HR, 13 doubles and 53 RBI.
Sophomore year, 2012, Madison hit .311 with a monster 63 RBI, 11 doubles and 10 home runs in 66 games. Ally through 23 games at a .403 average, 7 doubles, 2 HR and 16 RBI. So that works out to 18 doubles, 5 HR and 40 RBI. Average and doubles project higher for Ally, I'd give the edge to Madison.
Everything can't be equally compared, which is why I don't want to be in the business of doing it, I just take issue with the opinion that someone putting up those kind of stats was "living on a reputation."
