Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Signing starts Wednesday 4/12 maybe we'll get somebody between now and the ending in May that were not expecting.

For the 2018 !!!Why does hoop girls only have 60 top recruits listed?
Don't they usually have a top 100?

After 2017 roster:
1. Green
2. MeMe
3. Tea
4. Harris
5. Hayes
6. Davis
7. Westbrook
8. KK

Plus Jasmine and Amira if they sign? Total of ten

Plus ???????

For that reason (if they were willing to) I would Redshirt both Harris and MeMe this year With us losing Diamond, Russell, Nared, Middleton, and Dunbar this year (Green could also leave if she has a breakout year and we happen to make a final four appearance or win the title as she would be 23 when the draft is held next year).

This would give you a backup to KK should we not land one in the 2018 class (Amira is a 4 who can play 5 but is better suited for the 4 spot). MeMe would also give us good bench depth on the wing should we strike out on DeCosta or Balogun (which I don't see happening)

MeMe, Harris, and Dunbar are less likely to play many minutes next year with the freshman coming in (as I think Holly will look to play Middleton a lot) until the freshman are caught up to speed. MeMe would still have 2 years left and would see a lot of time imo backing up Davis at the 3 spot as I think as Sophmore's the lineup will be;

Starters:
PG-Westbrook
SG-Cooper
SF-Davis
PF-Green (should she stay)
C-KK

Bench-
PG-Massengil
SG-Hayes
SF-MeMe (Balogun or DeCosta could end up here)
PF-Collins
C-Harris

2018 W Balogun, G Nicoletti and W/F Decosta all top targets for us to go with commits F Mimi Collins and G Jazmine Massengill. Olivia Nelson-Ododa is a target but South Carolina is widely considered the leader for her services.

Lol, seriously. Where are ya'll getting this information?

Don't get me wrong, I would LOVE for this to be true considering how much help we need in the paint but I've heard next to nothing about SC leading for Nelson-Ododa. All I know is that she visited for the Alabama game and that she keeps in contact with our staff regularly.

Do you have an inside source?

Not giving away a source, but I've heard this from multiple people.

I think Hayes is just as good and Westbrooke is better .

I like what I saw in the MDAA game. Westbrooke has good "ahead" vision and very good placement of her bounce feeds. The one thing, nearly impossible to assess was their individual defense. (Except those players whose forte' is defending).

Dangerfield and Moriah Jefferson before her weren't that great their freshman years.

It might be good to temper expectations for the incoming freshmen and be happily surprised if they perform well. They should blossom the following year though regardless of how they do as frosh.
