Lady Vols Recruiting Info

We have Cheridene Green and KK together for the next two years. Yes, ONO is the target right now, but we also have Collins who can play the 4 or 5 in a pinch. I've heard rumors of a possible post transfer to Tennessee, but I'm not saying who or where from. It's just a rumor. If it turns out to be correct, Tennessee will be good to go.

I expect a class of 5, possibly 6, for 2018.

I do believe that Williams is a lock for UConn, but Tennessee was surprised to be included in her Top 5. They are going hard after her, but I think she will commit to UConn.

If 5 or 6 is a good number???? With who we are after it should be another top recruiting class!

Is Nicoletti more probable than Williams? We have been on Williams for a long time but Uconn has a tendency to change people's minds!

Have you heard any talk about Cambridge from Ensworth! She seems a little timid to me and would benefit by playing more aggressive teams. She has good skills but I could see Balogun or Nicolletti more S.E.C. Ready!

If Ododa goes elsewhere then a transfer is a wise move! Or both would be better!!! I can see Staley convincing her to come take Asia's place... and SC is closer ???

Thanks ! So besides the two commits who else seems like a TN lean to fill the other 3-4 spots? Does Izzy N. like TN as much as we are hoping she likes them. She is the truth ...

I can see we sort of thought alike :)

I believe Reaves and the other assistant can't remember her name right now can lure a top 5 player for 18 class. I think Williams might be going to Uconn based on Nurse leaving and Chong being a senior this yr. But we still have skin in the game so gotta wait and see. ONO I think will come down to UT,SC,and Ga.

I'm very interested about the post transfer speculation. I'm trying to think of posts we recruited but lost out on. I know we battled for Mompremier, Brown, and Cox. I can't see one of them leaving but Cox hardly ever saw the floor when I checked Baylor's box scores.
Tori McCoy maybe? I haven't followed how she's done this season.
Would Anigwe leave Cal? I had heard here on the board that her and T'ea are really close friends.
Anyway, slow work day so I thought I'd post my thoughts and see if anyone else has any thoughts!

I was curious how Baylor would handle all their post depth, but surprisingly, they managed it quite well. It will get even easier next season with Cave and Davis graduating, so the rotation of Mompremier, Cox and Brown should provide ample playing time for all three of them.

McCoy did fine this year. She was put into the starting lineup when Stephanie Mavunga was out injured, and has probably started most of the B10 conference play. She's had some moments on offense, but she's getting good minutes that will probably continue into next season if she stays put.

Anigwe pretty much carried Cal to the NCAAT. She's their centerpiece. I thought that she was really interested in Tennessee as a HS player, but Tennessee was focused on Brown and Mompremier. If Tennessee could get her, they would be deadly.

Chris did not say if transfer was a four year school or junior college? Like Green from jr. college or Nunn as degreed transfer ! Which could play next year or if from a four year school she would have to sit out one year! And how many years of eligibility? A lot of ifs and maybe!!!!

We need an /athletic/ big--somebody 6'3" or so who is agile. That is a piece we are missing.

Amira Collins is 2018 but she is an athletic big who can rebound, defend, while also stepping out and hitting shots. I live in VA and when she is active and engaged she is the truth. She was on a star studded team and often deferred to mikayla Vaughn and gave up the ball to her perimeter players but she is often getting double-doubles and guarded on the perimeter, high post, and low post.

If we cannot land Nicoletti, Collins' teammate Grayson would be good and also DeCosta.

Is there a time table of when this possible transfer may take place? If it was to happen?

What about McCune? I wasn't around on this board during her recruitment, but I've seen her mentioned several times in other contexts. I assume she's redshirting this year -- anyone know what transfer rules are in that case?

Also, has Mompremier's significant cut in playing time been due to an injury? I'm pretty sure she started against us earlier this year but looks like she's only been playing about 10 min/game ever since.

McCune went to WVA and didn't play. I think they red-shirted her, but not for injury. If she wanted to transfer, I assume she still has to sit out a year? At this rate, I can't imagine she's any better of a prospect than Kamera Harris.

Baylor moved Brown to the starting lineup around the time that B12 play started. I think Mompremier was injured, but I didn't hear what the deal was. She didn't play for awhile, and then showed up again towards the last handful of conference games.

Agreed! Grayson reminds me a little of Asia Durr for some reason.. solid kid who can take over a game she also makes others around her better while also knowing when and how to take a game over !

Well this is Grayson's wishlist from an article I read.

She wants to meet Candace Parker, the Los Angeles Sparks’ do-it-all star after whom she models her own game. She wants to go to college and win a national championship. She wants to go to the WNBA and win a championship there, too. She wants to play overseas. I see Uconn in her future.

Williams and Grayson both list Uconn as a favorite! Would Geno take both???

Plus Nicoletti has Uconn listed also!!!

Maybe we can have left overs?

Assuming both Williams and Honesty Scott-Grayson wanted to go to UConn, surely Geno would take both. Williams is a 2-guard and/or wing. Scott-Grayson is a true point guard. There wouldn't be any conflict of position.

Nicoletti is, of necessity on many of the teams she plays on, a combo guard/wing who plays several positions. Whether that is good or bad depends on your point of view.

I don't see Williams and Nicoletti going to the same program, but that's just my opinion.

My feeling is that we need another post player (although raider's comment about a potential transfer may ameliorate that need), a 2-guard and a wing to go along with our current commits for 2018. Given the level of interest from several top level high school players at those positions, I would like to believe the Lady Vols are in good shape for the class of 2018!

UConn does not always get the players they want so lets see where these lady's go. The LV's have some strategic needs and those players they are going after know what those needs are and whether they will be able to satisfy them. Some of their decision making is about living the dream. Some if it is about fitting the scheme and players are smart enough to know whether they will fit or not. Some of it is whether the school will be able to satisfy the academic needs of the player. There will be life after basketball and the student athlete needs to be prepared for that. There is a lot to the decision making just like their is a lot to a decision whether to change jobs.

Not sure if this has been posted on here yet or not, but Destiny Littleton (USCw 2017 recruit) has reopened her recruitment since Cynthia Cooper resigned and is talking to Tennessee. Other schools on her list are Texas, Arizona State, Washington, Oregon and Cal.
This would be an awesome get for next year as she is a high-caliber scorer and Tennessee needs that. She is California's all time high school scorer, outscoring the likes of Cheryl Miller, Diana Taurasi and Charde Houston.

But we're a stale program that nobody wants to come to. (Sarcasm)

Yeah Littleton would be a great shooting guard for us. Her form and shooting technique is flawless. She reminds me of a small Moesqueta-Lewis of Uconn but has the potential to be a Kelsey Plum type player.

prospects is one thing, turning them into a outstanding college team that can win a national title is quite another--a fact that you seemed to have missed. We had great players this year and couldn't get out of the second round! Fifth seed in the SEC tourney, after 7th seed last year. Haven't been to the Final Four in more than a decade. It's not about getting players, it's how they are coached and trained once they are here---duh.
