Lady Vols Recruiting Info

I am assuming When you redshirt you can't travel to away games

You are right the school can't fund the trip but certain schools have organizations that pay for the player to attend and its legal so there are some schools that allow redshirt players to travel we just aren't one of them

Right and they can sit on the bench in street clothes. Many players do this.

reminds me of a Maya Moore with handles..ie, she can dribble.

The way she takes it to the hoop around people and they can't stop her she reminds me of Candace Parker

So she is a combination mix of Maya Moore and Candace Parker? Good to see our expectations are realistic... :dance2:

Parker and Moore were the two best players in the country when they played. Let's not get carried away. And Parker is 6'4".

It's nice to see a change over here. People are actually happy and switched from thinking it was the coaching to it was the players. I can't wait to see what the next 4 years holds for this stellar class. Unfortunately, Boothe just promised at least 2 NC's for Texas so that leaves only 2 chances for this class to get 1.

They have to get there first then we can talk, uconn will be good and louisville and us and South carolina

Well,it's only been a few days since some of our posters were saying that there were no game changers in this class,or something on that order. Now some of these players are being compared to all time greats. Got to admit,I'm a little confused, but it's fun to read and comment on.

There is no Parker, Moore, Stewert, Taurasi, Holdsclaw, etc in this class.

However, Walker, Westbrook, and Booth can potentially reach the level of a Sims, Ogwumike sisters, Diggins, etc...which is still terrific (1st team AA).

Recruiting is only part of the picture to win a NC.

I remember watching Georgia and Tennessee in the final 4 and the commentators for the game said something to the effect 'I guess we will find out if Andy Landers is a great coach that can win a NC or just another savvy recruiter'.

I am cautiously optimistic about the future of the program. I am hoping that one of the two remaining recruits for 2017 will see the opportunity to at least play in one, possibly more final 4's.

Speaking of Boothe - Texas will be in running for the next few years, but I would not count on a NC. The talent is spread more evenly now and the closest thing to a guarantee NC was the last couple of UCONN's NC's.

Texas can load up all the talent they want, Baylor signed 4 point guards, or guards, but I believe they are all pg, no matter, you can only play 5 at a time. After the 5 starters you need role players, and most of these loaded schools are not recruiting for that, they are recruiting for a Doty.
Remember her, rank 1st or 2nd in her class, spent her entire career at UCONN recovering from knee problems? So to say Boothe just guaranteed Texas some championships, or even final 4s, like the quoted post says talent is more spread out. Think back th the stretches Pat had after Holdsclaw, Catching never won another championship, Lawson was there, Snow, man we dominated recruiting right up to the return when we landed Parker. And if you want to talk about stacked classes, The Baby Vols was a stacked class for sure!
There are no garantees, recruiting is 20% to 40% if you get the game changer, but luck, health, team chemistry, home sickness, jealousy, transfers just are way to big of the picture to crown any school before players even show up, heck look what happened to poor Tucker." Life is what happens while you are busy making other plans"- John Lennon

I totally agree. Like I posted a couple days ago, stacked rosters don't determine Championships. I think 12 players are enough. It is tough to keep 13+ players happy and not one to transfer. Most coaches only use like a 8 player rotation anyways. Some of these young women decisions are influenced by lies from coaches, promises and deals from coaches, outside voices, AAU coaches and bashing of a program they wanted to attend. But sometimes recruits do want to play with their friends, play at a winning program, play for a particular coach, play in a particular conference or want a degree from a certain school. We as fans never know all the details in the recruitment. With that being said, I can still see transfers in the next couple seasons at Baylor, UConn, Louisville, Ohio State and Maryland. Some of these recruits go to schools on promises that will not be kept when they arrive on campus. If we sign 4 players this class, I can see us only signing 3 maybe 4 in the 2018 class depending on how deep the 2019 class. 12 player roster is perfect to me.

I'm saying she will be a lady vol like I said Westbrook would be!

Hoping that you are correct on Michaela O. I looked at UCLA's Roster and they have 13 on the roster with 7 juniors and 3 commits so far, so playing time would probably be about equal either place she chooses.

Maybe signing Westbrook will sway her our way.

I could be wrong, but I think we have a better chance with Davis than Onyenwere. From what I hear Davis's visit went very well. Holly and staff laid everything on the table for her. You notice she tweeted currently debating right after her visit. She may still go to GT, but we as fans may underestimate Holly as a recruiter this time around. I heard she really seal the deal with Westbrook and her family. Both are very good players. But at 6'2", the things Davis can do with the ball and the mismatches she could cause is exciting especially with what we already have coming in. She really reminds me of Holdsclaw. How smooth she operates with the athleticism she possesses and the shooting touch she has is fun to watch.

Hopefully both young ladies will look to 2018-19. Sure next year the playing time may limited especially if Diamond returns, but 2018-19 we will have 7 players as of now assuming no one is lost to injury, etc.

Question about the young lady from London. She will have two years starting next year, is that correct.

Speaking on recruiting. I am from the state of Michigan, I have been coaching and teaching multiple sports, on the high school, junior high, elementary and tee-ball level the past 35 yrs. Pat, used to come to Michigan to recruit and take our best girls basketball players out of the state. I am giving the TN Staff a heads up, you better get down here, if you have not already, and check out 6-2 wing player Rickea Jackson, from the class of 2019. She is ranked no 7 in the class by Hoopgultz right now, but I am telling you, she may be ranked no 1, by the time she is a senior. She is a great talent, from Detroit Edison Public Academy. Lets go Holly and Staff!!! Pat took our best talent, so can you!!!
