Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Out of the top 100 recruits, I would imagine that there is 1 recruit that has a similar lifestyle as CHW and by concluding that "this" is the reason, they would have desired to play for CHW. 2015 was an exceptional year, Bruce Jenner went from having his picture on a box of Wheaties to having it on a box of Tampons and got an award for it???? Go figure.

What is Holly's lifestyle? All I know about Holly's lifestyle is she rides motorcycles. I guess that could be used against her. Parents don't want their kids riding motorcycles.

Your on to something Sand! I think you nailed it!
Fatality Facts

I bet she doesn't even use protection when she is doing it. Just doing it free style, all open and unashamed. You can really mess up your life and might catch something with out protection... like a bug in your eye or mouth. Always wear a helmet kids! This sadly will be the demise of our recruiting.

Maybe HW can't recruit well because she has never had to. Back in, I think 2003, I called the LV Basketball office about a potential recruit that played in my home town up in Indiana. I ended up actually speaking to Mickey and she informed me that the Lady Vols did not recruit anybody that didn't reach out to them with a video first. The girl went to Purdue and started at the SG for either 3 or 4 years. Back then, little effort was needed for recruiting the talent other than just narrowing down the list of interested players. Times have changed and maybe HW needs to learn how to work hard and actually recruit, "shake the bushes" to keep the program where it belongs.

If I was a player and I watched a Holly news conference I would probably want to go somewhere else. She is like a broken record of quick shoot the ball, didn't defend, couldn't get the ball inside, to many turnovers.
The reason this is happening game after game is Holly's coaching and a player thinking about coming here has to know enough about basketball to see that Holly doesn't have a clue.

I don't care if the next coach is an A-Sexual alien, I just want someone who can recruit and coach.

I know this is a long thread, but since the homophobes have taken it over, I suggest the moderators delete this thread and start a new recruiting thread.

There's just one or two. Everybody just needs to learn not to respond to obvious posts and/or hit the ignore button.

Just dumb. Flat out dumb statement.

Top 100 players are a lot different than your average basketball player. These players come with 'worldy' experience. These players spend every summer traveling across the US playing basketball from New York, Florida, Texas, Colorado, Cali, ect, and some even get the work with USA basketball and travel the world a couple times even before they are seniors. These types of players are also players that are focused on basketball. Their deciding factors when it comes to picking a school are centered around basketball first, education second. These players have worked their tales off and centered their life around basketball. These girls are not 'Bob Jones University' type of people.

These girls are wanting basketball success. They want to win, they also want to be in a position where they can grow their skills and eventually play professionally. I think your statement can be true for a very small portion of the top 100 recruiting class, and also in the 1990's and older. I think your statement can also be true for players that are 3 star - lower. But when it comes to the players Tennessee - Baylor - UCONN -ND -Stanford recruits, that attitude just isn't their in these players. And if it was... the top schools don't want them on their team.

Look at Brittany Griner, it was pretty obvious with her, but every top school wanted her, because of her skill. Do you honestly think the top schools would not recruit her because of that? "Oh no, we won't attract a certain group of players if we have Brittany on our team" That train of thought isn't there with quality players.

People want to win, and go where they win, and play with winners.

While the sexual orientation of the coach and existing players on a team is not nearly the factor it once was in WCBB recruiting, it is naïve to say that it is not a factor at all.

Even the best high school players have parents who are very much a part of their lives (almost no kid can play AAU basketball at a high level without a strong commitment from their parents) and the preferences and wishes of those parents can come into play – especially with a kid who has many offers to choose from. Often these parents dream of the best education for their child – and that helps programs like Duke, Stanford, and Notre Dame when that is the overriding factor. Others want a “family atmosphere” (as many coaches like to use – including both Summitt and Auriemma) in their recruiting pitches. And at 17, many female athletes are nearly asexual, and their parents are concerned that they could be influenced into making a sexual identification choice they might regret later. Similarly, parents of gay students want to be sure that their child will be in an environment where she won’t be persecuted, ostracized, or publicly shamed for her lifestyle.

I have spoken to college basketball coaches, both male and female, who have noted team chemistry problems related to sexual orientation issues. And they also cite racial issues as something they have to deal with. We are all striving for the day when race and sexual preferences are never a factor – but we need to be honest and accept that the fact that we’re not quite there yet.

Having said all this, I personally think it’s unlikely that the “lifestyles” of any current coaches or players have been a significant factor in the Lady Vols recent recruiting woes.

Right on target with the possible exception of last sentence and asexual comment about 17 year olds.

So anybody know how were doing with the following players for 2017.

Megan Walker
Rellah Boothe
Kasiyahna Kushkituah
Maya Dodson
Anastasia Hayes
Dorie Harrison
Mikayla Coombs

We need at least four of these players in 2017.

Been wondering where you been? I think we get Hayes, Maya Dodson (or Dobson forget which way it's pronounce), KK, Harrison, and Booth, with the class Maryland just signed this year, I don't think she wants to go there. If she comes here there is a chance she could start as a freshman (her and KK)

I don't know how we're doing on these recruits for 2017 but we sure ain't doing diddly for the 2016 class. Not one single top 100 recruit signed. That's a first for us I do believe! 2016 HoopGurlz Recruiting Rankings - espnW 100 - ESPN

We must not let Harrison or Hayes get away from us in the 2017 class since they're both from the state of Tennessee. However, we let all of them go elsewhere from our state in the 2016 class.

Agreed. Let me add that one year does not make a pattern. You can argue that these players may have underachieved, but Holly has brought in blue chip recruits- Tea and Meme were highly regarded, Merecedes was a number 1; Jannah Tucker (again as a recruiting prospect) was seen as a big catch; Graves, Carter, Middleton all highly ranked. Given all that, why would Holly's personal life suddenly have become a major issue.

Maybe it was just bad luck this year. Let's see how this years recruiting goes before drawing massive conclusions.

Nice post. Nice to see the recruiting thread back on top. :)

mtsuraider06 happy to see your post.

What about LaDazhia Williams, Jade Williams and Danielle Patterson?

Also do you know if they are looking at Sidney Cooks or Autumn Newby?

Someone the other day suggested starting a post with updated recruiting information. I claim no inside information, but have put together a list of the current roster (broken down by year of graduation) along with a number of recruits who have either expressed an interest in the Lady Vols, have been noted as being recruited by the Tennessee staff, or have otherwise been linked with the program as potential recruits.

If anyone has any additional information, feel free to add to it or contact me by pm and I will update this post. I will try to keep the status updated on a fairly regular basis.

I hope this is of interest to most of you.
Have listed the rankings by FullCourt (FC) and ProspectNation (PN) (the guys who used to be Hoopgurlz until ESPN pulled the plug) and BlueStar (BS)
