Lady Vols Recruiting Info

Some think she will most likely choose ND. I think her mom really likes ND. We will know in a few weeks. After that McCoy will probably verbal.

Mom like ND and Dad likes us and mothers normally win out when it comes to college decisions and their preference of where the child goes, I just hope winning a title is a priority of hers as well as playing time because with her & McCoy for 2 years with Diamond, Mercedes, and our 2014 class (Nared, Dunbar, Middleton) to go along with MeMe & T'ea and a year with Jordan, Carter, & Jones it is no way we shouldn't win multiple titles

We saw the same thing with Kalani Brown. Dad really wanted her at Tennessee, but mom wanted Baylor. Mom won. I have no idea why, but many think that Cox and McCoy will not attend the same school. McCoy has stated that she's waiting to make her decision because she wants to see where the other recruits land. The waiting game is tough because it is vital that we sign one of these young ladies.

On another note, there are good news coming out of the Lady Vols' practices. From what is being said I can sense a very hungry team. I think we may be better on the defensive side of the ball than last season. I'm really curious to know what new offense has Holly installed. I'm anxious to see how the guard play, Dunbar moving to the PF position and the new and improved Jasmine Jones and Jamie Nared. Believe me, Diamond DeShields will be ready for the start of the season.

I'd personally take McCoy and KK (2017) over McCoy and Cox. Of course, I wouldn't cry if we got all three, but KK and McCoy both fit our style of play more than Cox.

"I just hope winning a title is a priority of hers as well as playing time "

If that is the case then UConn is a lock.

I don't think they are, but I like their chances. Stewart is a senior and that opens a spot for a big forward. I think player development might mean as much as NC's and PT. I don't think there is a coaching staff as good as UConn's when it comes to player growth.

However, there are so many factors involved when a recruit makes a school choice. In addition to bball there is also academics, campus social life, teammates, staying close to or getting away from parents, boyfriends, girlfriends and so on.

With only 2 of the elite left that have UT on their wish list it could be a very lean recruiting class for both UConn and UT..

Could her mother be able to sell pocketbooks.

You shouldn't, because UConn is has the least chance of anyone left on her list.

No inside information, but I think she wants to go to a big football school. That eliminates UConn. I don't see her going to Baylor either. Baylor's roster is stacked and they just signed Brown and Mompremiere. Will they even have a scholarship to offer? Rumor has it that the race is between Notre Dame and Tennessee with ND leading. Both schools offer lots of playing time. We will all know in a few weeks.

Rumor has it? Who's rumor? Why would any top wbb player choose a school for it's football program? That makes zero sense. If that were her primary criteria that would eliminate both UConn and UT.

I just saw that posted on a few other boards. That's why I said rumor. Maybe she is a big football fan? I never claimed that it was factual. Like I said we will all know in a few weeks.

Jaiden McCoy, Height: 6' 2"
High School: Farragut HS (Knoxville, Tenn.)
City: Knoxville, state: Tennessee
Position: P, position Rating: 4 star
Year: 2016
Notes: 2014: EBA Super 64 Camp, CoachHemi.com

How did we let this one slip through our fingers? Just because of his last name doesn't mean he can coach like his Mother..If we're letting our good to best HS players leave our state & go elsewhere then someone is dropping the ball on this one. Can't we recruit in our own back yard? Have we slipped so far down that HS students don't want to even listen to what CHW has to say? I'm very disappointed on this news..

Then you go be a coach and evaluate talent for the team.

You imply that it was this player who didn't want Tennessee. The reality is that Tennessee most likely didn't want this particular player (and apparently neither did any other major Division I program), and I trust their judgment (far, far more than I trust yours or your hyperbolic disappointment).

Some services rank her as a four star; others rank her as a three star. Regardless, while she may be a decent player, she is not a Tennessee caliber player. She is the 43rd ranked post in the 2016 class according to ESPN; in terms of overall ranking . . . she's not ranked. At all. The time to start worrying is when Tennessee has to settle for recruiting unranked 3 or low-4 star players, or fretting when such a player "slips" through their fingers. I doubt this player was even recruited by UT; if she was, I'm sure it was only cursory.

You're kidding right?

6'2" posts? We have that already with Graves in the game.. Doesn't work very well against the Baylor's UConn's and Notre Dames's of the world....

I hope she is a star for Tyler but, we NEED height and athleticism.

I have to agree. I think some fans are in total panic mode because we really need to sign a post player this class. You just can't sign any player and expect to compete with the other top teams. Their was a reason the staff quit pursuing McCune. Atfer watching a video of her play this summer, I can see exactly why. Yes, we really need to sign a post player this class, but we need elite posts to compete for Championships. I really think we will get Cox or McCoy this class. I'm not worried about the 2017 class. We're in good shape with one of the top post in the country and one of the the top wings and maybe the best player in the state of Georgia.

"McCoy made her commitment to Louisiana Tech public on her Twitter account late Sunday, hours after returning from her official visit. She chose the Lady Techsters over scholarship offers from Middle Tennessee State, Virginia Tech and San Diego State.

The move didn't come as a surprise. She told the News Sentinel on Sept. 24 she was leaning "heavily" toward playing for Summitt, the son of legendary Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt.

"We knew about two weeks (ago) we were going to commit this weekend. We planned on it," McCoy said. "It was a big decision, and Tyler's the best, honestly. Making the decision to go there and play for him was easy. And the campus is beautiful."

I've heard she and Tyler have had a good relationship going back several years. She'll be a 4 at LaTech.

6'2 is a fine height for a high post player. The challenge with Graves is that she has no hops and she routinely gets stuffed by players shorter than she is. She plays smaller than she really. Jones at the high post can theoretically elevate over shorter players with her athleticism, but she's not as skilled nor as smart a player compared to Bashaara.

As long as Bashaara is on the court next to Mercedes, I think she'll be ok.
