Lady Vols Recruiting Info

I will be very surprised if Cox leaves the state of Texas.

I'll also be surprised if she doesn't go to Texas.

You know why? Because with few exceptions, they do....

Diamond DeShields
Alexis Hornbuckle
Candace Parker
Semeka Randall
Ariel Massengale
Alicia Manning
Taber Spani
Laura Harper
Crystal Langhorne
Chamique Holdsclaw
A'ja Wilson
Sierra Calhoun

They have whiffed on quite a few.

The new coach down there is doing a good job of closing the borders. A player like Cox along with the recruits they have committed or signed in the last two years puts them back on the national scene top ten.

Top five is more like it, if they get Cox, or some of the other Texas recruits. They will be a Top 10 team this year I bet.

I have been making some changes, as things come to my attention, without bumping this post, but I thought I'd mention a few of the changes.

Local players, Anna Hammaker and Cheyenne Hooper are both in the former column, having committed to Kansas State.

I think that it has been noted on the board that the Lady Vols are in the top lists for Erin Boley '16 and Kalani Brown '15.

A potential new recruit has been added in Samantha Fuehring. She is either not highly rated or virtually unknown on the recruiting services. She is ranked 96 by Prospect Nation, and is unranked on the other services. However, she has been receiving interest according to the twitterverse from Georgetown, Marquette, Northwestern, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Tennessee, South Carolina, Louisville, Minnesota & Duke at the least, and has offers from several of these schools.

One write-up can be found here and another interesting one is here.

And, I found this comment from her:
BadGal Sam @SamFuehring · Jul 11

I hate losing. It honestly makes me want to quit basketball.

I know the comment about wanting to quit could be read as a negative, but I think it speaks more to the competitive spirit. Particularly since she hasn't quit, but is, in fact, pursuing a college career in basketball.

Tori McCoy is a name to watch out for. Personally I think she's better than Brown.
Have we recruited her? Uconn site has a thread on her, but I don't remember hearing of her before now. Can't find much with a quick search on the web.

I want to say we've offered, but I'm not for sure. I know we've been watching on the aau trail. The girl is a beast she's like a little Basharra that finishes around the rim. I've been watching her since last summer and was hoping we'd offer.

Hey connboy! It's been a long time! Hope you are doing well! :)

volcrazy aka ladyvolsrule05

A little older, but otherwise I'm doing fine. How about you?
Maddie my niece's Newfoundland(all 145 pounds of her) keeps me very busy. She is 3 and half years old and brown and white. You don't see to many Newfoundland's that color.

Awwww...I've always wanted a Newfie. :) They are beautiful dogs and so gentle.

I'm doing well. About as good as expected. Ready for Fall to get here. :)

I don't know if they're still recruiting Erin Degrate but Tenneessee is one of the final seven schools on her list.

Thanks for posting. I had received information about a month ago that DeGrate had removed Tennessee from consideration. Obviously that was incorrect. I have restored her to the recruit list.

I know of no reason why the staff would not still be looking at her. From all reports, she showed significant improvement over the summer. She is generally considered one of the top five posts in the class, so, unless Holly has an unannounced verbal from the likes of Kalani Brown or Teaira McCowan, I don't know why they wouldn't be considering her.

Things are getting a little tight, though. As it stands right now, Holly and staff only have two scholarships left to give for 2015. Unless she commits elsewhere, I would think one has to be held for Asia Durr. However, I think that there is a real need for a true post player in the 2015 class and the highest prospects currently on the list are Brown, McCowan and DeGrate.

Brown is more of a priority for Tennessee than Durr is, and the staff is going all in for Brown.

However, they are also expanding their search, because this class is very thin in the post, and there just aren't many to miss out on. If they miss out on Brown, McCowan, or Degrate, they will possibly look at JUCO to fill a need.

I don't see Brown coming to Tennessee. I also think Degrate stays in Texas. Not sure about McCowan.

Good to know that they do have somewhat of a back up plan just in case plus there's still some post players from the 2015 class that are still uncommitted although some might not be highly ranked they're still worth taking a look at.

I don't know much about Samantha Fuehring but i did see a video highlight of her and i liked what i saw from her.

Durr released her top 5 today, and it did not include Tennessee. As I said, Brown is the TOP priority for this class, as are other posts.
