Lady Vols Recruiting Info

After this season UConn will have Butler 6'5" transfer, Boykin 6'3", Tuck 6'2" Collier 6'1", and Stewart 6'3 as their big players. They will have a multitude of guards to go with these five players.
We will have Russell 6'5", Graves 6'2", Moore 6'3", Deshields 6'2" wing player as our tallest players. We could really use another big body in the 2015 class. The only players that qualify as big bodies are Brown and Mompremier, Robinson, and McCowan don't think were in real strong position with any of them.

If they told me we could only sign one more player in the 2015 class and I could choose that player. I would choose Durr the heck with a post. I would love to see Durr, Deshields, and Cooper on the perimeter backed up by Tucker, Middleton, Carter, Reynolds, Jackson, and Dunbar. Dunbar probably could play some four like Sidney Spencer. Spencer was the ultimate UConn killer she hit some huge threes in those last two or three games we played them.

What makes you say that? Are her grades or test scores below average? From what I've seen she sure looks like a D1 talent. But then again I'm just a fan...

Sorry, I just saw this post. It appears as if she probably won't qualify. I definitely look for her to go JUCO.

We've got Izzy for one more year, Graves for two more years, and Mercedes at the post for three more years. I don't think we have to panic at the post just yet. Obviously someone to replace Izzy and be a Junior when Mercedes graduates would be ideal, but not the end of the world if it doesn't happen.

If we do play to our strengths, then we are probably headed to a four guard/wing situation after this coming season anyway. This means the need for a true post in the '15 class isn't as pressing as thought.

Dunbar, Nared, and Tucker could guard the 4 spot in the halfcourt, but to be honest, we would probably be pressing full court and trapping everywhere, so it wouldn't cause that many mismatches.

I'm really hoping that Tucker comes in after her long time away from the court and just tears it up bigtime! She should know the system by now and be ready to contribute right off the bat. I think she will be an upgrade over Simmons and I loved Simmons as a player... ;) Just hope everyone stays and the team pulls together. That hasn't been the case too many times in the past few years.

Does anyone know any recruiting details on Lauren Cox ('16)? Watched her in the FIBA U17 Championship yesterday. She dominated that game. Durr looked unstoppable late. She can get to the rim whenever she wants.

Holly was there specifically looking at Durr, Cox, and Joyner Holmes. It's a long trip to make, but hopefully making that trip made an impression on those three.

Holly wants them very badly.

Holmes looked very strong and athletic too. Durr just took over the game. Cox is as fundamental at her age as I've ever seen. Thanks for the info raider!

Welcome!

Also, Holly was there looking at those three specifically, but could have seen someone up close she hasn't before, or some she hadn't been looking at as hard, maybe now she is.

Five of the 12 have already committed, and Ogunbowale isn't looking at us, so there were only six Holly could have been looking at. Three of those she was REALLY looking at.

Has she always been recruiting Holmes and Cox and we just didn't know or hear about it or she's just now looking at them? I would love for us to land Holme. a lot of teams have been after Lauren Cox and some already feel UConn are the favorites to land her.

We have been recruiting them for awhile, as far as I know. Not sure where UConn stands for LC, but I've heard she will likely stay close to home in Texas. Tennessee going to the Czech Republic shows that they are very interested in her, along with Holmes and Durr.

heard some say she most likely stays close to home and others saying UConn. i do hope that Holly going over there to watch them play puts us in good position and shows that we're very much interested in all them.

UConn thinks they will get everyone they want. It's nothing unusual.

I don't think she ends up there. JMO though...

The girl who put up 40 against the U.S. was pretty good, anyway she comes to a university in the states?

In a short answer, yes. According to the rumor board she has offers from and is considering Duke, Purdue and Kentucky. Don't know if this is the limit of her consideration, but I'll bet that there are more coaches who are trying to get a look from her after that gold medal performance.

Many years back Pat tried to get the Olympic star from I believe Brazil on a scholarship but she was making six figures playing for her country. Kentucky men recruited a European player several years ago and he was declared ineligible for receiving too much money for expenses. Not to assume this would be the case given the current unemployment level in Spain. She was fun to watch and Spain's offense certainly had their team well spaced which provided opportunities for offensive execution against young players who were just beginning to learn defense.

fyi Ms Cox unfortunately is a type 2 diabetic, like the guy who played for Gonzaga a few years back. Some schools might not want to take the risk of playing her....

Being a type 2 diabetic does not stop someone from playing sports. I've been a type 2 diabetic for many years and it never stopped me from playing competitive sports.

Any school that doesn't recruit Ms Cox because she is a type 2 diabetic is very foolish and will certainly regret that decision since she is going to be a force in college.

At least in the championship game, Cox was extremely dominant...She used her backside to get dominant position......She was spectacular.

I can't see how her medical situation would be little more than a small concern...As long as she takes her insulin and follows a proper diet, she should be good to go.

Being young really helps in these cases. I think diabetes wears on the body and causes lots of problems as you age. But if you keep it under control when you are young you should be able to perform at a high level.

I am sorry to hear that for her and wish her the best in coping with it since several people in my family have it. Maybe they will find a cure soon enough to be helpful to her.

Either way, we would be very fortunate to have her if she were to choose us.
