To 8th place from 11th. (softball).

With such a young team, they will get much better as the season plays out.
Where do you guys see them finishing?

The girls are putting it on UGA right now. 5-1 in the 6th. Part 2 of the double will start around 6pm.

I believe they have a good chance to win the NCAA tournament. It is amazing how much better the women's sports are than the men's. Must be a superior AD.

I'd love to see them finish first. They will definitely finish very high. First is not out of the question.

Guy I have been a huge fan of vols baseball. But watching the men this year has been so hard. After seeing these young women myself and family will be going to see them until the toad is gone. I watch Laren Gibson hit and I think she should show some of the guys how to hit. Go Lady Vols

She just got gashed open by a cheap move from a Georgia player. Spiked her.

That was dirty right there. There's a fine line between taking out the shortstop on a play at second base and a blatant studs up tackle. Gibson is a trooper but Schlopy should've been tossed.

I agree. It would be one thing to get her ankles, but i think it showed intent with how high it got her.

Being ranked 8th is good because 8 teams get favorable seeds to the CWS. If your outside the top 8 you have to win the super regionals on road against one of best teams in nation, which we did last year. As far as Laren Gibson, I just love watching her play. She is such a clutch hitter. I think you can argue Kat Dodson and Kelly Grieve for player of the year in softball, but I'm not sure there's anyone I'd rather have up there in a clutch situation than Gibson. That by no means is intended as a knock on anyone else. Dodson and others are also very clutch also.

How do we not pass Georgia when we just whooped that @$$ x2 last week?

Because UGA was #2 and we were 8. Then we swept a bad Ole Miss team while UGA swept a Top-25 Kentucky team.

The rankings mean nothing, all about getting a championship ring, and we're ahead of UGA in those rankings.

It's a good thing the rankings go out the window when the LV's go to Oklahoma City. Then it's all about W's and staying in the winner's bracket.

apparently the higher ranked the better we do. those girls are young and talented (and good looking for the most part). we should be set a couple years here.

I'm pretty sure that regional seedings do play a part in OKC.

For example: Last year UT (15 seed) beat Michigan (2nd seed) in the super regional. In the first round of the WCWS, they beat Arizona (10th seed), who beat BYU(who won the 7th seed's regional).

After Tennessee beat U of A, the Lady Vols played UGA, the 3rd seed.

So there you have it. Unless I am mistaken, seeds do play a part in the WCWS.

Edit: You can go to ncaa.com and it shows the bracket from last year's WCWS. First round matchups were 16v9, 5v4, 10v15, and 6v3.

My point is it's more important to stay in the winner's bracket and play less game en route to the championship. Even elite teams less than three outstanding hurlers.
