Lady Vols Game Thread vs Louisville NCAA Tournament

Dick who? Is he a coach? Russell will need a drive and willness to play/work hard or no coach will be able to help. I don't think she has been coached at all, but she does not play hard. Call me what you want, but that is true. Sorry.

She appears lazy to me.

That being said, I think everyone is overly minimizing how talented Louisville is and they were planning at home -- which definitely energized them in the 4th quarter. Yes, all those terrible losses in the season kept us from hosting, but c'mon, everyone's acting like this was another Ball State upset.

Louisville is talented, but they are young. This was the sort of game where Mercedes should have unleashed the beast on the freshmen Cardinal posts. They got away from that, and I think it cost them.

I hope this is the end of the Holly experiment. No offense to her, but she isn't who the lady vols need. We all know how quickly a program can collapse. We got a great recruiting class coming in. Let's get a coach that can win with it.
That is precisely why she will likely stay. Also many LV fans said she had a rough go the past few years because of injuries and what not so the administration would probably want to see what she can do with a bigger roster with more talent. Holly isn't going anywhere. She is just getting started.

At this point even though there have been some strange losses and ugly games her resume for a WCBB coach to an AD is more than good enough to keep her job. I can't see her being let go unless there is 5 more years of this & no S16 in the NCAA tourney and they end the SEC in the bottom half of the conference. I can't imagine a scenario where she manages that.

Fans are better off hoping she & the staff improve.

We got in this position having to play on a teams home court because we couldn't beat crappy teams like Ole Miss, Alabama, Penn State, Auburn, and Georgia.

This right here. If the LVs hadn't giftwrapped games to Bama-- twice-- they could have been a 4 seed and played at TBA.

way to go holly you have finally completely destroyed the program. congrats.

What's very telling, at least from where I'm concerned, is that I used to get livid when the Ladyvols would lose. But now, It doesn't really even surprise or bother me anymore like it used to.

She doesn't like Jeff Walz. They think he cheats. Maria Cornelius and Debby Jennings have both used social media to say so. He ain't come here--if for no other reason to not deal with them.

Good ole Maria Cornelius hahahahahaha....she thinks Holly should be the coach forever and can do no wrong :eek:lol::eek:lol::eek:lol:

I don't post a lot, but I have noticed the last several years that the Tennessee intimidation factor has gone away. Teams are NOT afraid to play Tennessee anymore. Look at all the records and streaks that have been broken since Holly started coaching. Yes, responsibility comes onto the players performance, but the lack of a real coaching has been a bigger issue. Holly has had 5 years to see what she could do, 5 years that has shown the worst results in our programs history. 5 years have gone and passed, and now it's time to let her go. It's time to look for someone else who can come in here, preferably someone not old, someone younger. I like Jeff Waltz, but he may not be going anywhere. The players had no sense of urgency this year, non whatsoever. In fact, I think it would be best if our players went to boot camp following this horrible loss. This season was the worst season in Tennessee Lady Vol history!

Great. Do you think the results would have been any different by the way they have played and been coached? Nothing like losing on your home court in front of your fans.

The only way Holly goes is if the butts don't fill the seats anymore.

LOL @ the person saying "we were playing Louisville at home". That's precisely the point. We should've been playing at OUR home. If we hadn't crapped away multiple games to crappy teams we would've been.

Who cares. "What should be done eventually must be done immediately."

This is true

This is also True with the exception of 5 years

So which gives. I can see a very short leash.

I agree, to an extent. She struggled to get position deep and when she got it in the high post at least one, if not two, guards swarmed in for a double/triple team. The fact that she was able to pass out of it (for someone to shoot an airball) and not turn it over was at least an improvement from most of this season when seems sent smaller players at her.

This is what happens when you don't have good, fast guards. This team would look totally different with a fearless, fast point guard.

Oh I'm sure she's read this by now and probably seething blood at the computer screen. I think she's a good writer and clearly cares a lot for the program. But it's a fact she has posted negative comments about Walz and at one time
Notre Dame but I called her out on it and she retracted and said she wasn't necessarily talking about Muffet.

Wish we could get Jeff Waltz. I've thought of him coming to TN ever since I knew Holly was not a good head coach. If she had any respect for Pat at all, she would resign. I wouldn't be able to look myself in the mirror.

The thing is that everyone in the stadium knows that when Mercedes gets the ball, she will be double-triple teamed. For the life of me, I don't understand why Jordan isn't cutting hard to the basket for an easy, uncontested layup.

My favorite part of the game was when Fuehring sailed a pass under the baseline with no one remotely close by, and Jeff gave her the "What the f*** was that pass?" when she came off the floor. And then repeated it in case she didn't hear it. He don't mess around.
